Since we were denied our challenge (because by the time Sutton had finished explaining what he'd actually called the '10 seconds' was already up), can we get a review of the game?
Bunker: 'actually... Sutton was a shit ref... result overturned...'

It would be very interesting if someone was to release the conversation between Gerard Sutton and James Tedesco when he was trying to challenge a Lindsay Collins penalty in the 60th minute.
James Tedesco asked 4 times what the ruling was and every time Gerard Sutton just said “ruck interference”, Tedesco was trying to clarify whether he was ruling Collins had directly knocked the ball out or was to slow getting off the tackle, Sutton never clarified but regardless Tedesco still said look I’ll challenge and then Sutton said “it’s gone, you can’t challenge I’ve explained it to you”.
A perfect illustration of the contempt Gerard Sutton has for our club. In nearly every other instance this year the ref tries to work with the players and explains their decisions and allows them to challenge. Sutton was not willing to clarify his decision and seemed to be buying time so that Tedesco wouldn’t challenge, everything Sutton said that was picked up by the live coverage spoke to stalling tactics.
It’s this type of behaviour along with the new interpretations of rules that makes his performances really concerning.
I know the Roosters have complained about him multiple times in the past and now Robinson has just blown up publicly about him in the post match press conference saying “we won’t get those decisions in our colours and that’s just facts”.
I don’t see this situation getting any better any time soon.

When the Round 1 team was announced at the start of the season and Sutton was named as ref, I complained about why we had to get him first game and mentioned his biased refereeing ways. Some posters jumped on me despite the fact I very rarely complain about referees. Yet here we are and nothing changes with this cheating ref. He has an intrinsic bias against our club. The riff were allowed to get offside defending their line time and again. But when it’s our turn….6 again, 6 again.. I also back up R6’s comments about the Teddy exchange when Collins was penalised. I’ve seen many times with Sutton in other games where he politely asks the captain ‘would you like to challenge that”? Not with us though. Instead it’s a nothing explanation and then ‘sorry, too late to challenge’!
