Good luck to him, plenty of stories of players who struggled with injuries early on in their careers going on to have successful careers. Looked really sharp and powerful in his limited opportunities this year, good signs that physically he’s still got it.

Unfortunately I think this will turn out like the Anthony Cherrington saga.

Yep agreed. It's a setback but not as serious as the other ones. He'll work through it and come out better as a result.

Apparently it takes between 3-6 months to heal. He'll be ready to go next season no doubt.

Really disappointing for the kid, definitely looks the goods when out there that’s for sure. Despite it looking fairly innocuous, based on the NRL Physio’s view these injuries are dubbed the ACL of the foot. Such a shame, hope he comes back next year and smashes it! Goes for all our wounded! And while I’m at it f@$k COVID and PVL

I think Billy can take inspiration and hope from both Teddy and Mini- that despite a spate of nasty injuries, he is still young and surely his luck has got to take a turn for the better soon.
He has just re-signed for another two years, so the club obviously believe in his ability to make a successful comeback. This would have been done in consultation with the club medicos and physios….they would’nt part with $$$$ if they didn’t have faith that Billy will come good.
Positivity Rooster Nation! We’ll be right and kicking vermin ass in ‘22.

Connor Treacy is a perfect example of this having suffered three ACL injuries very early in his career however, perseverance and resilience now sees him displaying his worth when most others would have given in.
So happy to see him succeed.

Some people just aren’t made to play football. I assume he’s on pretty small money but how long can we persist with a player who is constantly getting injured.

I didnt know that but jeez he's a good player. I reckon Tracy & Hynes are gonna be a top halves pairing.

Scans have confirmed that Billy Smith sustained a lis franc injury to the foot during the match. Smith will return to Sydney to undergo surgery with rehabilitation expected to take approximately five months

Scans have confirmed that Matt Ikuvalu sustained a syndesmosis injury that will require surgery. Ikuvalu will undergo surgery in Brisbane and remain in the Club's bubble on the Sunshine Coast.

So Ikuvalu will be back this season, Billy wont.

I pretty sure Billy Smith keeps his fists to himself.

Yeah from memory Connor is a Sharks jnr. Interesting thing about him is he's been back and forth between Souths and Cronulla twice.
Good utility value he covers every backline position.
I reckon Fitzy will go with Moylan half & Hynes at five-eight. Connor will be an able replacement.

agreed, and seems committed to be a successful footballer at the Roosters.

Also plenty more who have had their bodies fail them unfortunately.

Luck isn’t on Billy’s side at the moment, he looks the goods though. Hoping he can put together a full season next year and build some consistency in his game which right now, seems impossible to do.
