If those were the conditions, you would be mad not to take him, but you think the knights would pay a million dollars to get rid of him?

Tapine had his best season last year, he was tremendous. Doesn’t get the wraps he deserves because he’s just so well rounded and plays in a side who don’t always fully utilise all of his skills.

I don’t see him leaving Canberra thought, he’s contracted until the end of 2023 and Ricky Stuart rates him very highly. I know they went through a bit of a rough patch earlier this year but they seem to have well and truly moved on from that.

Tapine would be an upgrade on Liu but I just don’t see it happening.

I wonder if Lui might have stayed knowing SST was going losing them both is a big hit in my opinion, as for the upgrades I do think it's a problem because the two young superstars needed more money sooner than planned and I think we paid overs for them both

For 350k a season over 2 seasons! No way is Newcastle that stupid ( then again why not?)

I dont think SST has slipped that bad, I cant work out why he might be going. He's probably not fully fit. I would keep him, players go through ups & down but I think if everyone is fit in 2022 he would be a big part of the top 17.

That's footy. Some blokes get unlucky and start to break down sooner. Big boys in the front row who can perform at incredible levels for 10 years are very rare indeed, if not impossible. Look at all the props who were at one time or another considered the pinaccle of the front row in the NRL - Andrew Fifita, Klemmer, Tamao, McGuire, Woods - all fell away very sharply.

Heck, if JWH didn't have something suitable to protect his sternum he would have had to retire years ago.

I disagree. He carried us for most of last year. He was second best prop in the game behind Papallehhe.

He is supposedly on pretty big money. We can’t afford to pay him big money if he’s not performing like he was last season. After the way he’s gone this year I think we can get better value elsewhere.

He was fine this year until he got busted. He was starting with Collins and keeping Jazz on the bench. I would not like to lose him.

Wasn't he for the anti-lockdown protest marches? I don’t think he cares about COVID.

From the minute he started in 2015 to 2020 he’s been an absolute weapon. Injuries and whatnot weighing him down but it’d be hard to say he’s not in a form slump atm. I hope we can keep him because he’s extremely talented and always done well for us.

If he does go we’ll replace him we always do, to quote Robbo, we’re the roosters we’ll be fine.
