just watched it - it's great. watching scenes from the 2002 gf reminded me the relief i felt when we won that night. for the newer fans it's good to remember that there was a long time when we didn't win things and you can't take our current good record for granted. robbo has taken things to another level but ricky brought us our first win for yonks and will always be a roosters hero.
was glad to hear him acknowledge gus gould's input. says he thought he wasn't ready for the head coaching job but gus convinced him that he was.

couldn’t have said it any better myself
Ricky WhitewashThe propaganda coming out of Fox in pursuit of its desire to deify Ricky Stuart would have made Korean Central Television blush in embarrassment, such was the utter whitewashing of history in ‘Ricky’. It was touted as an inside look at one of the most complex figures in the game but was nothing more than a romanticised propaganda reel that highlighted what a great bloke and great competitor Ricky is – both true, I’m sure – without dealing with any of the real self-imposed troubles he faced including his ending at the Roosters, his embarrassing end as Australian coach, his issues at the Sharks, his debacle of a year at the Eels or his poor record as Origin coach. It also didn’t really deal with the troubles he has faced this year. If Fox Sports just wants to be a propaganda machine, that is fine. But it cannot act like it has a 30-for-30 style documentary when it is just an overproduced fluff piece that was bordering on romcom territory.NICK TEDESCHI wraps up the week in rugby league in From The Couch. PVL Saves The Day Again Saturday loomed as a complete disaster when all three NRL games were cancelled with Queensland entering a snap lockdown. The Queensland Government acted with a heavy hand declaring no professional sport would be played for three days. […]..it’ll be interesting to see

Every night there's been hours of top notch contests across an awesome range of sports. I put my son to sleep and then just binge on Olympics until late (and I don't generally turn the tele on unless Easts are playing). All FTA too so none of the flipping annoying talking heads (plus political agendas seeded into sports/commentaries) from Fox.
Gonna be sad when it's all over. Very much glad it happened!
Edit: for the equality buffs, women's sport is not only getting 50:50 coverage, the standards have lifted massively! In my day (not long ago), most female athletes were just big girls who muscled their way to the end without much technique/conditioning (their times were all pretty amateur from a men's perspective as 15 y/o dudes running at the club level coulda beaten gold medal times). I'm now noticing the gap between male/female times disintegrate as women move into a truely professional era. As an athlete it's really quite special as it just means the quality of the competitions is even better to watch!Last edited by ism22; 08-05-2021, 10:05 AM.

Still I found the part about the 2002 Grand Final very interesting as would any Roosters fan. It was the first premiership I ever saw us win and I'd been waiting 25 years to see it!

That said... you can ask somebody about their challenges without burning/backstabbing them. You've just gotta frame it properly.

PS - PVL reads like PVD to me. Wonder if they have the same appetite for disco biscuits?
