With these stats on penalties is there a break down on what they are for , where they are conceded on the field , on what tackle and were they back to back to back in a short period time for each game
I remember a game when Chook conceded 3 or so penalties in their red zone near their line in each half in quick succession- back to back to back basically.
The Penalty count I think was 11-5 against Chook in that particular game - Even though 11-5 it was not like a penalty were awarded every 7 minutes or singular penalties - 6 came in 2 blocks in very short succession.
On the surface stats may show x but if you drill down it might show y

Teddy doesn't seem that great at it either.
Keary always seems too emotional.
Verrils might have it in him...
Who knows?

We don't really need to analyse though what the penalties are for that we have given away. As I understand it the number of penalties that we concede whilst usually more than our opponents isn't a statistical outlier.
Whereas the question that remains unanswered is why don't we receive penalties or 50/50 calls in similar circumstances that our opponents generally do, which results in our large differential deficit. That's where the real (subconscious) bias lies and what needs to be examined.

This might have been mentioned already (127 posts deep).
I recall a few years back that we on the Chookpen pulled some stats together regarding Cummins.
We had a dreadful win/loss record with him refereeing us.
Any way, Gus Gould eventually bought this same point up in the media.
Ever since then, I feel we have had at least a fair record with Cummins as ref.
Just saying.

Interesting that for only 4 seasons of the almost 41 Chook have the highest negative penalty differential
2009 - 50
2010 - 46
2013 - 62
2014 - 59
