i dont know he will. he does seem to like souffs immensley, i think the new franchise will focus on development and broncos cast offs, which to fair could be a winning strategy.

again developing your own is the only proven way to cheat the cap .bennett is not stupid .

I think Cody will be 33 then. I don’t think they’d want to buy a 33 year old.

When Pollies leave parliament many obtain highly paid jobs in the private sector and or become board members of a wide range of corporate boards- i.e Nick Griener was on about 15 or so corporate boards at the same time - how can a person be on so many boards - be paid for each one too- is it a coincidence this occurs - are they really the best person for these roles?

              • [QUOTE=Mickie Lane; Gladys a pretty good person from what I see of her on TV & hearing her on the radio.

Unfortunately yours is a common perception Mick. As a leader of a party that represents corporate Australia she gets feather bedded by the corporate media - "The Woman who saved Australia" (Financial Revue), "Unlucky in Love" (tabloids) - whereas the reality is that she green lighted half a billion of taxpayers money to benefit the corrupt boyfriend ("I don't need to know about that part..") and is rightly now being pursued by ICAC which is just doing its job despite News Ltd portraying it as the villain in the piece.
Apart from that there is the squandering of public money on the new stadium (it's a developer's government) and the billion dollar blowout of the Light Rail project because her lot didn't do proper due diligence and the total fcuk fest of the Covid management with her "gold standard" refusal to lock down hard and the subsequent spread of infection to Vic which had things under control. Not to mention The Ruby Princess.
Image the Corporate media reaction if any of those things were down to a progressive party.
The Libs don't govern for you or any of here - our community is about much more than the interests of "business", that's why he "hates" her.

Thanks for that Paddo, I think I understand how it all works after reading that.

Is it privately owned business and industry that are to blame? Just checking for a friend. Should all business and industry be government run and owned? Will that ensure social justice is served? I'm a bit worried as I think that system has been tried previously in other parts of the world. And some animals end up being more equal than others.

The evolution of Queensland as, possibly, the nucleus of League in this country is remarkable and it's a wonder that the State has just 3 teams (soon to be 4). In years gone by it made sizeable contributions to the rosters of Sydney clubs with the laughable result that many of them would be chosen to play against their fellow banana benders in the annual inter state non event that preceded Origin. The International selections were also weird - conventional wisdom had it that the Kangaroos had to, begrudgingly, have a "Queenslander" who was always roundly ridiculed as a mere passenger and liability, These days it is an assembly line that just keeps on producing what are and have been in the past the very best players in the game.

                    • [QUOTE=SupermanSupportsEasts4Eva; Reports coming out of a Thailand resort this morning.....Sam Burgarse has broken his cheek bone again. The former Souffs scum bag found himself in the wrong place at the wrong time. He was in the firing line of a wayward flying phone that had been hurled across his room by the Vermin club owner, the notorious phone chucker, Rusty Crowe, following their loss in the GF.

Hey pal leave Dewsbury out of this willya. He's copped more than enough over the past coupla years and most of it not just unfair but lies perpetrated by an upstanding "leader" of the community. A lying rich carnt bent on destroying another human being, the father of his grandchildren. A Wallaby wanker to boot.

With respect P1 I'm not sure how or why you've worked Communism into this but since you have, let's look a bit closer at the reality with respect to Communism. True, it has been and is still being tried elsewhere but in every instance since 1917 it has been stifled and harrassed by the USA and that continues to the present. The average Ozzie loves Uncle Sam or, more accurately loves the pop music, the movies and various fads that constitute it's soft power. Mr. Average doesn't want to know about it's far more ugly, murderous side. Basically, it's a Plutocracy - ruled by the rich who destroy any rival political system which cares about the welfare of its citizens for fear of the comparison.

The Marxist model is a democratic one. Democracy is within the Party as we see in China (where, according to the respected Washington think tank the Harvard University Brookings Institute, 96% of the populatiion are happy with the way that they're governed. But it is not easy to become a party member, one has to be an activist and to demonstrate a dedication to the collective (the community) over many years beginning in youth organisations like the Komsomol in Soviet Russia. The 85% of any population who profess no interest whatsoever in politics do not, therefore, get any say and why should they? They are easy meat for demagogues like Murdoch, Trump and the American oligarchs and they're no doubt happy to stick with footy and shopping. Within the party, however, those interested in social progress and policy form groups or cadres and compete with one another through debate for representation on the Central committee. Everyone is elected by grass roots party members and in China there are 90+ million of them - no Corporations, no self interested media moguls, no rule on behalf of the 1%.

No. 15 corporate boards are obviously wrong.
