I read an article a couple of weeks ago about how a lot of these B listers go on shows like that to try and improve their tattered reputation by carefully choreographing their image on there. Sam Burgess was used as an example.

Seems to have worked a treat. Even I liked him by the end of it.

And how could you not? He admitted to and took full responsibility for every poor decision he made in his marriage and gave his former wife and children the lion's share of his fortune despite her family's enormous wealth - imagine that ol' diabolical rich F-I-L doing that? He need not have been so candid and self effacing, very few would have been so. Obviously he has the future relationship with his children foremost in mind and that is so admirable in my book.
Shame on Smith for sneakily dobbing on a fella who was down and on all of those who, on the mere claims of a lyin' old git, attributed the very worst qualities to Dewsbury.
