I’m at the ground and wonder why did they stop the game? Oh yeah souffs lost the ball and now they can stop the game so Tatoola can gave his sobriety test like touch your nose scratch your arde etc.. and this is going on for a couple of minutes so souffs players are getting nice & settled to defend, and then the trainer wants to bandage his head after Tatoola has passed his HIA test and now it’s about 3 minutes… WTF is that? Why doesn’t the ref insist on moving the player away from the play or take him off to do all of that? I couldn’t believe it last night when I saw a Storm player given the sobriety test back on his own 10m while the play was inside Parras 20. The Storm didn’t request to stop the game…That’s the way things should be.

The only reason Perenara got to first grade as a ref was because he was an ex-NRL footballer. In the late 1990s there was a real push that ex-footballers would make great refs because they "had a feel for the game". Perenara has never been anywhere near the top 8 refs but has had a charmed run over far better whistleblowers. He has never been anywhere near competent.

Last night, Trent Robinson vindicated ALL of us fans for our incessant calling out of the referees over the years.

Let it be clear now in no uncertain terms that Robbo and the Roosters hierarchy are as aware of the bias against our club as it's fans.

So often many of us have been belittled as conspiracy theorists but last night Robbo - as inscrutable a character as any in our clubs history - unloaded and reaffirmed what we've always believed...

Namely that the NRL and the referees are grossly incompetent and have a clear agenda against the Roosters.

It is only my love of the Roosters that keeps me coming back. The NRL on the other hand can get ****ed now and forever. Last night was the final straw after the final straw.

It's beyond a joke now. It is, as Robbo said, a ****ing circus.
Unfortunately, for the non-Roosters fans out there, its all sour grapes.

Didn’t our own Luke Phillips get his referee ticket? Is he still reffing?

Gave it away because he got tired of being shafted because he wasn't one of the Sutton fans.

There's definitely a hierarchy. You're not gonna make it as a ref by reffing 10 games every weekend and running the sausage sizzles. Beyond a point, there's an invite only stream, which you'll only reach if you know the right people & sell yourself properly. It's a flaw in many promotion streams... selfless analysts with no interest in social climbing & self-promotion get ignored. In the case of NRL refs we need more analysts and less social climbers!

Nobody's gonna end up in the bunker unless they've gone through all those hurdles first. It's a long path, which would require a looot of work.

That said, IMO there's people you meet at footy games (not me) who can read everything better than the bunker from the back row of the general admission stand (off in the corner somewhere). I'm pretty poor at reading footy (often have NFI why penalties have been called or who's getting them when watching live) but IMO it's a bit like being an air traffic controller... you've either got it or you haven't. Some people just instinctively have the concentration & analytical skills required (Klein and Peranara don't... as Robbo said, 50 seconds to realise that a guy's suffered a major cheek fracture is not good enough... the significantly lower-paid touchie is the only person who noticed!!! When we're talking about 'relegation', why can't the touchie now get promoted to Peranara's job, just like when players are sent to reserve-grade?)

IMO for the bunker they should open it up to general fans and do a test each year. Make it one of those military-style tests where you're shown (for example) 50 questions on the rules & 50 clips in a row from different games (make it a 3 hour test). Make it all quick... you have to do quick-fire, multiple choice answers (with 'do nothing' being an option every time) and they take the top 1%. Peranara and Klein can also apply to do the test like everybody else.

I seriously reckon a lot of random fans (there's always 1 or 2 sharpies at each game who see everything) could do a better job than the Bunker while chugging beers in the cheapest seats available. The Bunker's that bad at times!

I don't know if anyone has suggested this yet but a great way to show support for Robbo and to also show the NRL that we support what Robbo said would be to establish a Go Fund Me page to pay the fine. At the moment, the NRL doesn't seem to give a stuff what the fans think. I used to think that V'Landys was on the mark but I've come to believe that he's just a power fixated narcissist. the NRL is driving the players too hard and still looking to make rule changes which will further harm them. They're not freaking machines. Tired and injured players is NOT what the fans want to see. We want the league back the way it was in the 90s.

There was too many cases this year where Roosters players got hit high or illegal hits with no repercussion. Robbo was right on there's circus music played in the bunker whenever Roosters are playing. The MRC need to be wiped and start again

Zac, yes you're right the perpetrator gets issued with the fine however, i hazard a guess Nick would have given TRobbo his blessing before the presser to let rip and assured him whatever fine came his way would be accommodated. I know i would if i was in his financial position.
TRobbo's comments were premeditated out of frustration and we all applaud the club's actions to call out the poor officiating and inconsistencies levelled at us.
If you recall a few weeks ago one of our directors Luke Ricketson did much the same by providing statistics to prove the point we've been getting sausaged with lopsided penalty counts for well over 10 years.

A balloon can only take so much air before it explodes!

thanks. wonder how closely the nrl monitors the payment of fines by coaches. if a club paid a player's fine it would go into the salary cap - with the salary cap coming into being for coaches maybe it's the same. if robbo's paying for it out of his own pocket then more respect to him

Just refuse to pay it and lodge a massive counter suit against NRL for breech of duty of care. Take it to the courts and let's see who runs out of money first.

Concussion numbers have increased this year with the new rules and crackdown
Now the nrl wants a 7 tackle set if the ball is kicked into touch.
Just when you think it can't get any worse
