Also I think (at least based on the legal terminology they are trying to replicate)...
    - Careless is like 'negligence' (i.e. you shoulda been more careful but weren't doing anything abnormally risky).
    - Reckless is reckless (i.e. demonstrates intent in violent crimes).

Example... if you throw large rocks off a bridge and a car crashes, injuring somebody then you're probably gonna be in more shyte than somebody with a bee-sting allergy who gets stung on a freeway, goes into cardiac arrest and then crashes, killing a busload of school kids.

That's my reckoning at least. Grade 2 reckless is pretty much the worst grading you're gonna get unless (for example) you stomp somebody who's on the ground or throw multiple elbows at somebody.

I'd like to see a worse punishment but end of the day if Manu's cheek-bone hadn't been broken, it woulda just been a nasty, late shoulder charge. I'm comfortable with grade 2 reckless because I think there's definitely worse stuff you can do.

That said, I don't think it should get downgraded. It's late, high and a shoulder... 3 wrongs and from a guy who should know better. I hope they throw the book at him and we don't see him until round 7 2022.
If I bump into someone on a pedestrian crossing and they fall and break their leg, I'm up for reckless driving at best. If that person bangs their head and dies, I'm up for cupable murder. And god help me if I was ever stupid enough to drive drunk and do it.

Without loading it would’ve been a 3 week suspension which I think is soft. Probably should’ve been a grade 3 reckless but I reckon they probably knew he had lots of loading and factored that in.

I also don’t understand how his “dangerous contact with the head/neck” are considered non-similar offences. The MRC process makes no sense to me. Surely his elbow to Nofaluma’s head after he had passed the ball is a similar offence to what happened last night?

Not the first time the fat prick has missed semis due to suspension.

Matterson received a Grade 3 Careless a couple of weeks ago. Mitchells was far worse.

Matterson drove upwards. Mitchell was never going anywhere but the head. Absolute joke.

How embarrassing and shameful for Latrell and the vermin should they decide to fight the charge, while Joey lies in his hospital bed with likely permanent physical and mental scars.

The MRC really went soft on the grub.

i agree a 9 week suspension should begin on the day Joey takes the field again.

If that is in fact the case then why didn't the MRC go light on Rads and Angus? Didn't they have loadings as well?

Great value for their $2m. Two seasons. Not one final played.

What if Joey was 10m closer to the line and was in the act of scoring and perhaps even fell over the line and scored, would there be a charge?

                          There wasn’t earlier this year.
                          ..it’ll be interesting to see

Fatrell could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody and he wouldn’t get a grade three charge.

I hear the souffs fans crying out "you can't rub a bloke out from a GF for that"
I've had to stop reading facebook. The number of people who commented saying there was nothing in it, that he was falling in the tackle and that the sin binning should have been sufficient penalty was mind boggling. The hatred for us out there is very strong

And if you drive into that pedestrian by accident, do you then start abusing them and challenge them for a fight while half their face is hanging off ? since its an accident and you didn't mean it and all that ?
