But as a compliment to Keary; with his size, defence, and left foot kicking game there's no doubt that Hutch is a perfect foil for Keary.
Nah Walker is the better player, has more gears to his game and can play at a higher level.

Love what Hutchinson has done this year and was great to see him tear up tonight but lets be real there’s a cap there.

I have been thinking that Hatch and Luke should start next year with Walker off the bench.

If Hutch was 5m quicker he would be a superstar, but if my aunty had balls she'd be my uncle. Hutch is playing great footy but he's got a limited ceiling unlike Walker.

On another note, Laurie Daley gave Jack Wighton his Man of the Match award

The good form of Hutch has been on the cards ever since that game against Cronulla ( saw it live) when he took on the defence, ran & scored, and got us into the game.
He is not fast - but solid, robust, and a handful when he puts the foot down.
And he seems to pick his moments right - instinctively knowing when to run, when to pass.
Trent is saving Walker up for the finals - I reckon 2nd half appearances - he brings a huge amount of spark and creativity to our halves, when the opposition is tiring.
Keighran's great game is just what we needed - we have a backline that is sound, maybe not brilliant, but we have a great pack of forwards.
Someone on this forum said we can't go anywhere this year because we have inexperienced halves - I call BS - if your young and good enough, you are ready.
Just look at Schubert in 1975 - no experience - but watching him play was like watching a comet streaking through the night sky
Anyway, looking forward to see how deep the young Roosters go in this finals series - they will not go out, without putting up one hell of a fight.

True, but do you think walker needs another year to ease in or it should be full steam ahead for him after another offseason? Are we getting behind hutch over walker on defense alone and does sams higher ceiling of talent mitigate his size compared to hutch? I mean how big can he legally get? Cronk big?

No doubt walker and keary are the long term.

Been watching him for some time because he has too long a pedigree not to be good. It's been coming together for the last few weeks but it arrived tonight - some of that performance was Cronkster- esque.
The teamwork was also there again - no Joey and Kieghran steps up (didn't see it earlier in the year) and looks every bit a gun centre. Teddy superb, Cordner Mark2. Number 17 with the unpronounceable name could be anything given time.

Walker and keary will be the best halves combo in the Como next year if our forward pack fires

I have to stick my hand up and say I was one who thought Hutch was no better than a park footballer. This season he has been building to that game tonight. He was the best player out there by a mile.

I have to admire his persistence. He should get so much confidence out of that game tonight that I think it may be the making of him

As many have said seems like a great guy to boot and the rest of the squad seem to love him. He is good for us. Well done on a great regular season Hutch.

I don't think it's such a given that Walker will partner Keary next year. Walker defence is terrible and he tries to hard for that harbour bridge pass that is coming off less and less. I haven't been impressed at all with the back end of Sam's season. I don't think the coach has either. Hopefully he can bulk up in the off season and fix his defence. I know Sam has a ton of potential we all saw it early on in the season - but as the season wore on he was more of a liability. He will get there I'm sure but his got some maturing to do physically and as a footballer mentally.

Harsh but you make a good point, Walker could use some more muscle and some more variety to his game. I’m sure we’ll see it next year when Keary and Rads are around to help take some pressure off.

                              Bravo Drew.

Not the most talented half, but always gives his all. Unlike others that give each other high fives when they make a mistake, he genuinely looks angry with himself.

A late bloomer, a bit like the vermin filth Cody Walker, who debuted in first grade in his mid 20's.

Drew is a solid, no frills type. Will never be a superstar, but is a vital cog in Robbo's team dynamics, especially with all the injuries.

On bugger all money and seems like a great guy to have around the club. With all his own injuries early on as a junior at St Merge, I'm really happy for him.

With the return of Watson, I don't see how Lam and Lussick fit into Trent's future plans.

Not so much a late bloomer, he was a star junior who kept Munster on the bench for the Junion Kangaroos back in 2016. Had some serious injuries, went to the UK, got lost for a while. Seems to have gained confidence under Trent, and so great to see, I hope he becomes a long term no14 for us.
