  • Finals Week 1

With 8th still to be decided and maybe not till Sunday it will be interesting what the finals draw would look like

Rooster to play either Friday if they finish 4th or Saturday if they finish 5th the more likely of the two - Panther Should beat Eel

    Usually the format is

    Friday

    1 vs 4

    Saturday

    5 vs 8

    2 vs 3

    Sunday

    6 vs 7

Looking at the remaining matches that may or may not change
    • Storms play on Friday at 6 pm- Gold Coast
    • Panther play on Friday at 8:05 pm- Gold Coast
    • Rabbit play on Saturday at 7:35 pm- Sunshine Coast
    • Sea Eagle play on Saturday at 5:30 pm - Townsville
    • Rooster played Thursday at 8:05 - Mackay
    • Knight play Saturday at 3:00 pm - Brisbane
    • Shark play on Friday at 6 pm - Gold Coast
    • * Titan play on Sunday at 2 pm - Gold Coast * depends on Shark game if they can still make the 8 by winning this game by the required points.

If we play on Saturday that would be huge for us. Gives us a 9 day turnaround which would be much needed for some of our lads. Titans could easily make the 8 still, there's only like a 23 point differential between them and Cronulla I think so if Cronulla were to lose to the Storm tomorrow night by like 12 points then the Titans would only need to beat the Warriors by 13. If we get the Titans that would be ideal as they will be coming off a much shorter turnaround than us, plus I think we would easily beat them anyways. Either way, I'd be extremely confident against either Cronulla or the Titans especially with JWH and Rads back next week.

Playing on a Saturday in daylight and hopefully a fast dry track should suit us so well.

I agree. If we beat the gummies, we would then play Manly in Week 2 and although we would be outsiders I reckon we could win that one too.

Then it would be Penrith and then the Storm... and the greatest against the odds premiership in history!!!

The longer the turn around the better for our team.

I think we will play the Titans which will be on a Saturday and yet when we win that have that show down with the Grubbitohs as they will be deflated after the thrashing they will cop from the Panthers. Also, Reynolds is most likely carrying a leg injury and we will have Critchton, JHW and Radley back for it as well.....

Kerighan last night showed that he is filling Joey Manu's void quite well. Morris was strong last night especially in defence.

If we finish 5th (as seems likely unless Parra's B team beats Penrith) and then beat the Sharks/Titans, we'd play Manly in Week 2 (or the Storm if Manly beat them)

seems like we won't have anyone suspended or injured out of last night and with rads and jwh to come back and at least an 8 day turn around we're sitting okay. i don't care if we finish 4th, 5th or 6th and am grateful that we get to watch the roosters play finals footy

Let’s just sit back, relax and hope the other teams bash the shit out of each other. And Penrith what a joke playing for the minor premiership I guess that’s about all they can achieve.

Who knows - the footy gods might decide to wipe out Turbo if we get to Week 2, Cleary if we get to Week 3 and the entire Storm spine if we get to the GF. My dream of Jessie Marshke winning the CC Medal (in his first grade debut) might come true as well.

Even though we dont know who they are. Can we start a thread about the referees for next week already. I mean this games one was so on the money. Surely next weeks will be better. Id like to finish 6th for another crack at Vermin in week 2 should the cards fall that way

I'm glad we played on Thursday this week, long turn around before the first Finals game.

Would've loved to have finished 4th if Penrith are minor premiers. I have no doubt the team that fielded last night (provided they don't drop as many balls) could take them! Would've loved us to score a couple more tries for our for and against just in case the improbable happens and Parra beat Penrith. But now we just sit back and watch what happens and the cards will fall as they will. Our team has done us proud and they will continue to do so.
