For people who may not have seen Wright play but maybe saw "Slammin" Sam Obst play - Obst was 170 cm (5 ft 7 in ) and 79 kg ( 12 st 6 lb )

They were stored in various warehouses around Sydney.

Jim Marsden got him a good behaviour bond and community service order

Not sure how they would not have been missed during a stocktake though
Remember Eric Grothe Snr and Paul Mares? They tried to pull an insurance job and got caught if memory serves correctly.

Yes they must have had a good brief as well and behind closed door deals with the insurance company- apparently the next week Stan Jurd appeared at Parramatta training in full firemans garb and a fire extinguisher shouting where's the fire

For some reason the Chooks signed Paul Mares in 1989 - played only 6 games before retiring with chronic knee problems

Two leading players with the Parramatta Rugby League team will appear in Parramatta Local Court on May 12 to face charges of conspiracy to cheat and defraud.

Eric Grothe, 27, of Liverpool, and Paul Mares, 24, of Baulkham Hills, were arrested on Monday by Castle Hill detectives investigating the alleged theft of Grothe's 1981 Ford Falcon valued at $10,900.

Police said the Fire Brigade had gone to Taylors Road, West Pennant Hills, on Thursday night to extinguish a fire in the car, which they said had been doused with petrol.

Grothe had reported the car missing to Parramatta police.

Another attempt was made to burn the car the next day.

It was again doused with petrol and a firebomb thrown at it.

The firebomb is alleged to have bounced off and was extinguished when another car ran over it.

Grothe and Mares were released on bail."

Poor buggers was what I thought at the time - car stolen and incinerated for the insurance payout. Who hasn't been there done that?

Dud buys? In the 50s, Gordon Clifford - still a legend at Norths, played for Oz. Came and went here in the twilight of his career.
60s - Alan Cardy - ballyhooed Wallaby winger but like most RU converts, always injured,
In recent times, the late Jacin Sinclair, Big log Willie, Paul Mares (a goose basically - see above), "Ogre" - well named long before signing with us.

He was the most useless player I ever saw play, anything good he did was by accident.

but a bad attitude to go with it.

love Nicks comments last week about building a youth academy to bring up the kids through.

will definitely expand and evolve an already successful and professionally built system.

may go a long way towards filtering out those sorts of players mentioned above also..

can teach someone everything they need.. except attitude.
There was a habit of the Roosters before Trent to put players in the wrong environments when they first got to the club.
