  • Roosters vs Manly Qualifying final, 2013.

    https://youtu.be/dk28ln1u0RA

One of the greatest defensive displays I’ve ever seen. Was in the crowd that night, edge of your seat stuff for the whole 80 mins.

That's rubbish Bahrain, worse game of footy ever.. Lucky V'landys came along and showed us how Rugba League's meant to be played

PVL needs to bring back defence. Enough of this 40-38 stuff.

Love that little bullshit penalty at the end by Cummins to give Manly one last chance.

I recently watched the 1974 and 1975 Grandfinals which are on the Chooks site along with other winning Grandfinals and Classic matches. highlights , full match replays and media and press conferences.

For some reason the Chooks vs Raiders Grandfinal has this" Access to this content is restricted to other devices" when you click on to watch it

Re 1974/75 - I really miss the scrums, markers being able to rake the ball back and players scratching around for dirt so the kicker can built some sort of a mound to place the ball on for penalty and conversion attempts - Ah those were simpler times

What year was it that they started to use sand brought on by ball boys in small buckets for goal kicks and what year did they start using plastic tees for goal kicks?

Cummins was punishing them that night, from memory. Towards the end as they packed a scrum not far from me and they all looked exhausted, I stood up and shouted 'We're all proud of you, Easts!!!!'.

I think it was Daryl Halligan that started using plastic tees.

My favourite part about this night was walking to the ground and all the sharks fans abusing me on the way out saying how they’re going to smash the roosters next week you guys suck we will flog you etc how’d that one work out you wankers. Couldn’t even walk to the stadium with a mate without a random group of sharks fans trying to fight for no reason, I guess that’s what needing 7 tackle sets against the cowboys does to the self esteem.

What a great defensive game. IMO winning that game to gain the week off is what gave Easts the advantage over Manly towards the backend of the GF. It allowed the likes of Maloney, SBW and co. to power home with those late tries to SKD and Jenko over a Manly side that was running out of stream.

I missed this awesome game because I had to attend my best mates engagement party in Norths Sydney. I was so close to this awesome match. Still cuts me that I missed it live.

I remember watching it in a full sports bar at BankstownSports club. I was one of 3 spectators cheering for the Roosters as the rest , mostly not manly supporters, were cheering against us. Walked out so proud of that effort .
