I never wanted Slater to miss the 2018 GF... nobody should miss these games unless they are savage deliberate attempts to hurt somebody.
The rationale of the NRL should be to ensure we have the best players on the field every week no matter what unless they are seriously dangerous.
Some players in the middle make 800 plus tackles a year (Would that be an assessment?) in congested traffic with others coming in underneath etc and out of those 800 tackles, less than 1 percent go wrong due to unfortunate circumstances. And they can add up to a GF suspension or the likes!!IT'S RIDICULOUS!!!
The players are not thugs generally and we know the bad tackles that deserve a rest!!! They are very rare!!!
The judiciary needs a massive overhaul. For mine all grade ones and twos should be fines only and no suspensions. Fine the player. Don't punish the fans or the product. But that won't happen.

> The NRL’s Bunker and match officials have been pilloried for failing to send-off Mitchell, fuelling a belief the code has gone soft over the zero-tolerance crackdown on high shots that began during Magic Round in May.
But V’landys insists NRL referees have been given a firm edict not to tolerate head-trauma attacks and will take action over acts of foul play that could derail a team’s premiership ambitions.
...
> “The crackdown has not stopped, what’s happening is players are complying and there is a lot less contact above the neck.
1. I bet this results in one of our players being sent-off at a crucial moment for something far less serious. We'll have to be extra careful and this will make playing the Titans quite challenging as we know they're now in the hunt for somebody to make an example outta (most likely Rads, JWH or Crichton... all of whom will be ruled outta the finals with a grade 1 ANYTHING due to loading from this year's crackdown on them).
2. Lackey-lard-arse, I know you don't watch footy but you should watch Ravalawa maaaate! The crackdown (which basically involved coming down hard on Victor Radley over a piece of BS... twice) isn't just over, it never really existed because all you did was highlight one team in order to make a point that you're being tough. People don't want crackdowns or new rules... they want CONSISTENCY for once! Wouldn't that be nice. CONSISTENCY rather than making up rules/punishments on the run.Last edited by ism22; 09-10-2021, 01:20 PM.

PVL forgot which sport he was dealing with. Jockeys get the riot act read before big races to prevent serious accidents. Fair enough.
We don't need this for League. In either a publicity or safety context. Lose the brutality of League, you lose your market edge. Wake up Petey.

You can bet when this happens to Radley, if he accidently catches someone high, they will suspend him for the rest of the finals series,.
They will justify the suspension on the basis of Radley's past rap sheet, and because of that , an illegal hit by him must have been intentional.
Yet, they couldn't find intention when Fatrell smashed Joey Manu's cheekbone into a multitude of fragments.
Fark me, these guys are full of bullshit.

One that wouldn't even ruffle Barbie's hair and for which "penalty sufficient" should apply.
But we only do our best and that means for one respecting possession and nothing stupid that can get one of ours binned.
