I wouldn’t mind if Marsh comes in for Sam. Sadly I think Sam is struggling. He offers zero in attack. I don’t think we lose much with Marsh in for Sam.
Certainly hasn’t hit the heights he reached in his breakout season.
For me the game showed why we need Brandan Smith. We still have Teddy and Keary in their prime, need to win premierships. I know we won 2019 with Verrills but to compete with Penrith and Melbourne I believe we need Smith
Joey and Gus said, “it was a accident, what could verrills do” …but they said the same about latrells rampaging charge through Manus head , anyway, Verrills didn’t get binned , his done nothing foul for a couple of years , so using those statements , the MRC should give him 4 months cause their inconsistent dipshits
People saying Verrills is no lost must have been watching this season in an alternate universe. He’s the only first grade standard hooker we have. Marschke puts in 100% but his 100% has more missed tackles in him, less inside pressure, less creativity from 9 when the pack is on top, and also has a shocking pass in him and in his last game starting he was called for two forward passes. If Verrills fights and loses he’ll be a massive loss.
We played atrocious in so many facets yesterday. I can’t see us turning out another performance like that. If we do Manly will put 40 on us no problem. In a positive note other than the Fifita no try the Titans didn’t break our edge defence. They got two tries off gift drop where the ball fell into their laps. One from two shocking misses that I’d be surprised if we produced two weeks in a row. And the other from Ikavalu not having enough game awareness to realise he didn’t have to attack the ball because we could’ve run the clock down with a drop out. Not a lot to lose next week. Hopefully it frees the boys up a bit.
He stood virtually motionless when the impact occurred - just braced himself as the guy came towards him. The only other thing he could have done was to leap out of the way.

indeed. and right description of why iku made his mistake
I'll have to have another look, but I'm pretty sure Sam was standing his ground. His shoulder isn't even promoted. He's just standing there, with his arms basically at his sides.
Very confident we'll challenge that, and get it downgraded.
Gordon should be pointed and laughed at for comparing it to Latrell's shot.
Hopefully he can get a downgrade as he's been working hard for us , he hasn't as been dynamic running from dummy half as 19' but I don't know whether that's down to the ACL or our forwards not being as dominant as they were back then or more likely a combination of both.
Man these guys are inept
Given Verrills grade 2 careless which is 1 game suspension with early plea.
We'll fight it down to grade 1 for a fine. There was absolutely nothing careless about the tackle
I think careless as opposed to reckless is a good thing. If we're challenging the grading, we're saying 'it was careless but that kind of contact was grade 1 material, not grade 2'.
Commentators are manipulators and should be taken to court if they are found trying to influence the NRL.
Be interesting to know if public commentary influences what happens. Not standing up for Souffs but I reckon Latrell was gaaawn partly because the media were sll over it. That and anusley came out and confirmed it before there was a hearing (imagine if a court did that - chief justice comes out and says 'this was a murder and this guy's gonna pay' before you've even been tried... nice one!)
The process is shyte, and I'm saying this about a dude who majority farked us over, and moved from Easts to our arch rivals. Process is more important than the outcome IMO.
Like those stupid one punch laws. One guy gets hit in the back of head outta nowhere, bangs his head on the ground and dies so now the minimum sentence is 30-40 years or something (I forget) because this got a heap of media criticism. Great... until (for example) your daughter gets drunk, punches a guy during a relatively tame argument (partly in jest)... then he loses his footing and dies due to a freakish chain of events and the judge is like 'yeah so the minimum sentence is 30-40 years because this was a 1 punch kill... yep I've seen the video... he was laughing and it was more of a tickle than a punch but fact is it was a punch and he's dead now... I have no discretion'. In substance it doesn't matter whether it was a freak accident. Our bloody disciplinary systems are becoming the same - blah blah blah media has a whinge - suddenly you get 5-6 weeks for accidentally tapping a guy in the head during a tackle (the same as what somebody would get for maliciously clobbering them in the head with an intention to hurt them).
