Agree, if we are allowed to show the Parra tackle as evidence to grading then common sense should prevail and the judiciary have been fair this season.
MRC are a joke!
Verrills' tackle is like a couple of others this year - the defender had nowhere to go/couldn't avoid contact. There was one earlier this year (can't remember the teams) where a ball carrier got ankle tapped, was airborne and his head came from above the defender's shoulder and landed on the shoulder. The defender was still charged and found guilty. I think Verrills is in trouble and not in an NRL vs the Roosters way.
Match review committee members: Michael Robertson, ex Canberra and Manly ,Michael Hodgson (dogs) Luke Patten (dogs) and Anthony Quinn ( newcastle).....they couldn't possibly be biased, could they?
I think you guys are missing something that is obvious here.
Verrills got suspended , and, every other player who got cited , and who is playing in the remaining finals games, got off scott free.
(except for Sue, but the Knights are already out , so that is irrelevant.)
Think about why that is the case - the NRL just want to f#ck the Roosters off, out of the competition.
The games we played during the year , we copped head high stiff arms, knees in the back with punctured lungs, and smashed cheekbones.
But we got SFA from the Refs.
And we continue to get lopsided penalty/ six again calls against us.
Its simply the NRL's agenda .
If we fight the Verrills suspension , he will get 2 weeks. No doubt about it. If you think the MRC will review the footage of the incident again on Tuesday night, and we are on a level playing field, you are dreaming.
Check the comments I have made above, and honestly, tell me its a level playing field. (the evidence is pretty compelling) The MRC have already made up their minds.
Its the Roosters vs the entire NRL.
The MRC makes (invents?) the charges, the ruling will be made by the Judiciary.
Just out of curiosity, given your view above, how do you explain the 3 or 4 times our guys have had charges dismissed by the judiciary this season?
At least Gallen and Gould reckon it shouldn’t be more than a fine at best. That was on 100% footy.
that's good to hear. i've always liked them both but gus has been taking silly pills of late but he'll come good.
i'm hopeful sam will get off. if it makes a difference that the titans player busted his nose on sam's torso, not his arm/shoulder then we've got a good case to argue
Like many other tackles that have been deemed high, Sam’s one is caused by Sitili going lower and Kelly falling forward. Sam stand and braces for impact like Cleary did a few weeks ago. What the hell is he supposed to do? This isn’t about protecting players from brain injuries. This is mostly about finding ways to suspend our players like the many times JWH and a couple of others have had to waste their time defending themselves only to be exonerated many times over.
What it also does is if there is one small charge for a shove that only attracts a fine, eventually those small charges become a suspension like Angus. If Sam gets charged again for something minor now he will be marked and be suspended. I hope that there is ground to have a word with these MRC crooks as to why these charges are laid on our players and they keep getting off and I hope that the club is pursuing that.
The stupidity of the "protecting players against brain injuries by suspending players" is that the vast majority of head injuries are caused by defenders going in for tackles, either by them hitting a hip or other bony part of the other player's body or being clobbered by the head of a fellow defender. Boyd Cordner's, frankly heedless defending style, is the cause of the majority his head injuries.
Head high tackles and dangerous driving tackles should be punished severely. But not some damned fool banging his nose on another player's chest while he's falling in a tackle.
If Sam Verrills doesn't get off with a fine then we'll know the NRL has its priorities even more screwed up than we thought.

I agree with you, but because the klutz broke his nose there is no way the judiciary will be brave enough to be impartial. Somebody will have to pay for the injury, and that's us and our Sam.

Thanks for the clarification, Waylander.
Now I know the judicial process -MRC then Judiciary- enough committees in force to make your head spin.
As far as the Roosters guys having the charges dismissed , call me cynical.
The dismissals happened earlier on in the season - now we are at the business end , there's no leniency for us.
Just look what happened to Rads (4 weeks for a chargedown) and Angus (3 weeks for a cuddle around the neck)
The tackle was just shown again on ch 10 news.
Verrills was standing upright and the Titans player fell-ran intro his shoulder.
The charge is a joke, as is the grading.
Suppose these days we have to move aside and just let opposition players run past so they don't hit our shoulders.
All the others either got fines or not even cited.
Verrills should get a fine too...he's no thug.
