According to the SMH, the Roosters will contest the grading but the NRL believes Verrillls should have been sin binned. I'd have thought Verrills deserved an opportunity to defend himself at the judiciary before the NRL made such a judgement, but maybe it's for the best. If the judgement has been made, don't bother going to court - accept the one week for this minor offence and hope to play again.

Radley was found guilty at the judiciary of a grade 2 careless high tackle as it was deemed he launched himself at TPJ - I can only presume the reason Verrills was charged with a grade 2 instead of a grade 1 was because the Titans player was injured (Broken Nose).
Verrills was standing his ground and there was no launching movement involvement - To say he should have been sin binned is over the top.
Either fight the charge or grading - most likely the grading is the best bet based on other tackles with similar charges such as Radley's one I mentioned - going down a dangerous precedent if they charge players based on the injury suffered when other such tackles may result in no injuries.
Why aren't defenders charged with dangerous contact head and neck for head clashes with ball Carriers though - you see some actually lean/lead with their head at point of contact evenLast edited by King Salvo; 09-13-2021, 01:03 PM.

The grade must be challenged. I think the NRL saying he should’ve been binned, has to be the injury or the fact contact was made with the head and due to the injury it is forceful.
Reality is, short of dematerialising, Sam did everything he could in the situation to limit impact of the tackle as much as possible. It’s a penalty, and we move on.
If the MRC needs to be seen as effective, grade one is more than sufficient. I think we challenge regardless of the NRLs rhetoric.

I think you guys are missing something that is obvious here.
Verrills got suspended , and, every other player who got cited , and who is playing in the remaining finals games, got off scott free.
(except for Sue, but the Knights are already out , so that is irrelevant.)
Think about why that is the case - the NRL just want to f#ck the Roosters off, out of the competition.
The games we played during the year , we copped head high stiff arms, knees in the back with punctured lungs, and smashed cheekbones.
But we got SFA from the Refs.
And we continue to get lopsided penalty/ six again calls against us.
Its simply the NRL's agenda .
If we fight the Verrills suspension , he will get 2 weeks. No doubt about it.
If you think the MRC will review the footage of the incident again on Tuesday night, and we are on a level playing field, you are dreaming.
Check the comments I have made above, and honestly, tell me its a level playing field. (the evidence is pretty compelling)
The MRC have already made up their minds.
Its the Roosters vs the entire NRL.

Its ridiculous. Sam has nowhere to go the guy gets hit by 1 Rooster & on impact he then hits Verrills. It happens in less than a second, Verrills can do nothing, it was an accident.
It has to be a downgrade. If Sam was put out for the game against Manly Im more than happy if he is replaced by B Marschke.

Meanwhile Paulo gets off with a fine. Astonishing.
