Yep completely agree with you lot on this one, the kid hasn’t arrived at our club yet. Worry about settling in first, earning the respect off your teammates through action not talk.

I hope he and the bro are devastating for us in the years to come but for now put your head down and work.

The guy has just signed a 3 year deal with the Roosters and all he is worried about is boxing against NRL players, am I missing something here ???

I would expect him to be talking about his excitement of donning the RWB and learning his trade under Robbo and our great systems,..

Maybe my expectations are too high!

A bit young to be trash talking isn’t he?

Maybe make a name for yourself first.

I hope his work ethic is as big as his ego.

Yeah he’s young yet gal brought him in for his last camp and sparred him, size definitely favours this kid just hope he doesn’t turn out into another Willis Meehan 2.0

I would settle down a little on what’s said in the article. No direct quotes from the kids and it’s third hand comments from the boys manager about what they supposedly told their dad. Sounds just like he writer of the article cherry picked these comments and put them in for clicks.

Well, he is a Queensland junior champion. Hardly surprising he wants to keep boxing. At least if he’s training for boxing he’ll be super fit. That can only be a bonus for us.

I'm thrilled he's already so passionate about the RWB and acknowledging the dog act on Manu.
One day hopefully he'll get that opportunity to play against Latrine and talk the talk.

What you talkin' about Willis for? Meehan was always a high risk individual who mixed in very undesirable social circles. From what I've read, these Va'a boys are good lads - one wants to study psychology and the other wants to be a doctor.

Lol I’m speaking purely in footy talk. We had high hopes for Willis he was a dual boxer / footy player and he left us and turned to shite. Hopefully these boys stay with us for a long time and develop into forwards who will take the mantle after SST/JWH

Its obvious that the club is doing its best to identify future footballing talent.
With our existing young forwards, Atoni, and these guys, our forward depth is getting better and better.
You need size in the current NRL and these kids fit the bill.
17 and 15 years old, over 6 foot, and 115kg.
                        Holy Smoke.
It will be interesting to see how they come along.

Respectfully, FYI… these boys/family did not speak to the media. Latrell’s manager spoke to the boys manager asking if Xavier would be keen to fight on the footy fight night card, & he answered yes. The media then went with Teen Calls Out Latrell… & the social media circus began.

I know the boys/family. They are humble & have a good hard-work ethic. They are also very much excited about the opportunity to develop their footy at such a great club.

They are also talented amateur boxers, winning State & National titles as Schoolboys (u14s), Junior (u16s)
& Youth (u19s) levels. Started from age 6 & 8. So they do take their boxing seriously enough to be included in the Boxing Australia Futures pathway program (those aspiring to be selected for future Commonwealth & Olympic Games).

But boxing has always taken a back seat to their footy, although it’s a big part of their training regime pre, during & post season.

I just wanted to share this little insight, after reading comments questioning their ego, focus & work ethic, in re to this opportunity at the Roosters. There’s even a comparison to Willis Meehan?!

Xavier is currently preparing for end of year final exams, & having to deal with a lot of the unnecessary outside noise surrounding 1. leaving the Broncos system & 2. Saying yes to a possible boxing match with such a polarising nrl superstar!

Hope this makes some things a little clearer.

BTW they come from a staunch catholic family & the parents named their kids after Saints, not schools.

                          RWB 2022 & beyond!

We look forward to see these boys wearing the RWB soon.

Lol… Mr. Va’a ✅… Dad? ❌ . Thankfully the boys are nothing like me or they’d be in trouble a lot. Just wanted to clear the air a bit but very excited at the opportunity they have been given. I know they’ll give it 100 & some!
