Different times, different game but you play to the rules and conditions of the time. Just as the successful teams of the last few years have done.
Still, with all the rule changes and apparent agendas of the administrators, our B2B effort of 2018/19 remains out of reach to others for the moment and should be acknowledged.
The difference now is that the successful clubs do not accept mediocrity and make the necessary adjustments to change with the times. (and rules). (and referees).

Also let's not forget that when we went back to back in 2018/19 we got through Melbourne in both years: 2018 grand final and the 2019 preliminary final.
Robbo gets fairly praised by the media and "experts" but I feel like rugby league fans genuinely undervalue his ability as a coach and going back to back when Bellamy never could even with an illegal team and also going back to back having to beat Bellamy in both years is something that doesn't get mentioned enough.

Maybe for a single season 1975 is the best though.

Re: giving credit to old teams...
I wasn't alive to watch teams play in the 60's (and you'd have to be at least 70 [more likely 80] to have done so). I don't think it's unreasonable to focus on the modern era and put the 50's/60's in the category of 'trivia' rather than lived experience. This isn't to disrespect/dismiss them, but it's comparing apples and oranges.
St George were undoubtedly the best between 1956 and 1966. These teams deserve to be celebrated for what they were. However, I think it's fair to say they'd be amateur-grade by today's standards (those lower grades have some tough buggers who'd be working blue-collar jobs...etc so I'm not exaggerating). Further, SOMETHING musta been different about the comp for a team to be able to win 11 years straight. Much has changed - I think B2B is the CURRENT standard, and our 2018-19 team is the only B2B team within the current game.
It's exactly like digging up Rod Laver (a towering 173cm tennis player from about that era). Yes those wooden racquets were tough and his record makes him an immortal (plus he's still alive so can't be from THAT long ago). But... Federer, Djokovic, Nadal...etc are next level athletes. There's a reason none have won 8 grand slam tournaments in a row, and it's unlikely we'll ever see that again. One word... professionalism. Sport these days is way more fine-tuned and the financial incentives make it significantly more competitive. Today's records are rightly viewed in isolation from what we saw in the 60's because it's harder than ever to chain together 2 competition victories.

A couple of things...
If the Storm had won the comp, they would have only caught up to us in B2B comps but we were still the first team to achieve that like the 19 games in a row. When I weigh whats worse of the Storm equaling our feat or souffs get another comp, souffs winning the comp would be much worse. Hopefully the Riff will prevent all of that.
Secondly, gees the Storm crumbled after 2 players could not finish the game...Imagine if they had 10 missing for a good part of the end of the season. They'd probably be shaking hands with Tiger Town.

That’s close to the talent we lost this year for long term or season ending injuries.
