I'm sorry but Carney played like a prop last night. He didn't look like a back. What he did do he did extremely well but is that his role in the team? If Moga is fit I would much prefer to see him starting at 3. He can create tries for us and make just as many metres running the ball into the line, just not as spectacularly as Carney. While I was ecstatic to see him defending at centre, for mine he is just too much of a liability when the high ball goes up. His inability to get high enough to take bombs means his winger must take the kick no matter where it is positioned. As soon as he faces a tall centre the opposition halves will simply aim their kicks ten metres further in so the taller winger can't save him. To add to that he is the comp's worst blocker for protecting his winger when a kick goes up. Last year he got penalised 3 times in 4 games for being way too overt with his blocking. Last night he didn't even bother blocking the McQueen run and BJ had no chance against a player with a big run up.

For me watching the game on TV was bloody enjoyable especially the end.

The thing that gets me about the Roosters is the coaching decisions. Tasi & FPN were really playing well but they were replaced around 18th min by Arona & Mose, that was a mistake. Arona has NO impact. Carney kicking off then BJ kicking off, puzzling.

Overall I thought the whole team put in & played for the full 80 minutes, sure their were mistakes & penalties but they are a very young side & playing without Anasta & playing a gigantic good side it was a great effort.

Maubs as the future captain I like it. Maubs got crushed by Dave Taylor at about the 66 minute mark, if I copped what Maubs copped I would be in hospital. The courage.
Carney was great & will be in the run on side next week no matter who is fit.
Kennedy is sort of clumsy Im not overly sold on him. I know it was his 1st game in 12 months but he was no different 12 months ago.
Tasi & Hargreaves were our best & they both should have been given more game time especially Tasi.

I thought especially in the 2nd half that we lacked any spark, A Mitchell tried hard but we lacked that SKD brilliance.

Overall I was more than happy with the win, it made my day. Thanks Roosters.

Kennedy will come good. I thought same as you until he stood up during finals in 2010, then was winding up for a big season at the start of last year until injury struck. Fingers crossed he gets over the lethargy ASAP.
