  • What does the Roosters look like in 2025?

After I bulit my predicted 2022 lineup, I thought of a question for everyone to debate upon with everyone building their own lineups cause personally it's a fun thing to do especially during the off-season.

I pose the question: What does the Roosters look like in 2025?

I gave myself 2 rules when building the squad:

    1. I must stick with developing players from within.
    2. I limited myself to 3 signings to fill out the roster.

Now this is fantasy and we don't know if certain players are going to turn out be good or not but I've mainly built the team around younger players at the club currently and assumed that certain players have moved on (Retirement/Left the club). To be specific - Tedesco, Tupou, Keary, JWH, TKO have retired at this point.

    1. Suaalii
    2. Ruben Garick
    3. Tabuai-Fidow
    4. Manu
    5. Vuate
    6. Nicho Hynes
    7. Walker
    8. Collins
    9. Verrills
    10. Tuku
    11. Sitili
    12. Baker
    13. Radley

    14. Volkman
    15. Whyte
    16. Xavier Va'a
    17. De La Salle Va'a

Firstly, it's 'What DO' not 'What DOES'

Now, let me climb down from my high horse and tell you what the first grade lineup will look like.

Firstly, with the nature of change in the NRL, it's like we'll only have 6, or maybe 7 of the current squad still playing in the team. Look back 4 years at our squad, and there are only 7 of them still with us.

I think i'll very likely look something like this. I'm not going to speculate on who might be signed, the time frame is simply too long.

        1. Tedesco (co-captain)
        2. -
        3. Suuali
        4. Momorovski
        5. -
        6. Keary
        7. -
        8. Collins
        9. Radley
        10. E Butcher
        11. -
        12. Crighton (co-captain)
        13. -

        14. -
        15. -
        16. -
        17. -

Coach: Robbo (or in case he retires to France, Jason Ryles will likely be coach)

Toops, JWH, SST will be retired.

Walker will get big money thrown at him at some stage, likely by Brisbane or Redcliffe, and will take it.

Manu will get big money thrown at him by either NZ rugby, or another team who will give him 900,000k+ a season to play fullback.

The likes of Nat Butcher, Baker will continue to improve, and will attract bigger pay elsewhere than we are able to manage.

Someone will pay overs for Verills, Hutch, Lam, Keighran and snatch them up.

          Overall...
          - I back our current forwards. They held their own in 2021 and will be better for it in 2022-2025.
          - Our backline's exciting. Lock them all in!
          - IMO Egan Butcher, Whyte and Hau Taphua will be two of the better forwards. I want Nat Butcher to be in there but IMO Whyte, Egan and Baker will surpass him.
          - Souffs will get the spoon and whinge about us buying our players & having no juniors. I will laugh.

Keary's leg injury this season may be a blessing in disguise (for his head injury). Egan Butcher is going to be a starter for years to come & Walker will only get better.
One thing for certain is the Roosters roster management is outstanding and we will have top shelf roster going forward.

Both Va'a bros from Brisbane will feature from 2023 provided they don't suffer serious injury. Like Haas they'll become mainstays and SOO players like Sammy IMO.

Momirovski is a 5/8 & has no winger experience, he’s only played in the centre’s in FG. Suaalii or Smith could play on the wing leaving Momirovski to play centre or 5/8.

Don't buy that. He's in no more danger than any other player now.

Nothing like the Boyd or Jake situation where they were punch drunk and even minimal contact posed a problem.

Pretty sure he played a fair bit of centres in SG Ball and early on in 20's. We had Connor Watson at 6 in the junior grades around that time

He can replace Hynes in the team, looking at responses so far, my team probably needs some tweaking.

Momirovski was a 5/8 in the SG Ball & U20's never a centre. He played all his juniors for Alexandria Rovers as a 5/8, I watched him a few times because my nephew played for Alexandria Rovers as well. Watson was not in the U20's team that won the comp with Momirovski, Manu, Radley, Butcher, Sitilli & Ben Thomas. Latrell & Hastings were ineligible.
I think Watson was already playing FG.

Dont worry too much about responses Im just glad you started up a thread on something.
Who's your favourite current Rooster player & who's your all time favourite Roosters player RoosterBoi?
Before Freddy who was the biggest name player that you had heard of at the Chooks? Im being genuine because I know your young.
When you hear some of us on here talking about Horrie, Gurr, Cleal, McFarlane, Boustead, Ayliffe I often wonder if the people born in the 1990's or 2000's know who we are talking about then I think when you hear names like Mullins, Coote, Peard, Mayes do you have any idea who these names are?
