when paddo talks old school footy and times, he makes me feel like I’m there( not sure if he could be a journalist in his earlier life) he actually makes me look up a few things, be it a good or bad thing.
and Tommy, I LOVED how mental you used to go in game day threads, I would feel exactly the same, but you didn’t care about a bit of backlash from some on here.
It is what makes it all the more interesting for me to look in here each day.
There's certainly nothing wrong with a diversity of views. Mickie keeps me sane sometimes with his impartiality when the emotions run high.
And Paddo does tell a good yarn and is very knowledgeable. But, I still smell a troll. I just can't reconcile the relentless Burgess defence with his instant reprimand of Teddy. That's beyond suspicious.

The refs have also knocked the stuffing out of me AND I got sick of reading over gameday threads in embarrassment.

I didn't go close to repremanging Teddy, it was a "what if?" comment. I can see how it might have happened but not judgemental. We are multicultural now, we have to give up our endearing "just a joke" casual racism. It's hurtful and I'm sure that that's not Tedesco.
Sam Burgess, on the other hand, is a victim and his antagonist is powerful. Not only that, he verges on the psychopathic. In an earlier Burgess discussion I said that the shame of what Sammy brought to that high profile family would make 'ol Mitch murderous. This is the father of his grandchildren whom he pursues with, hopefully, a criminal record result or bankruptcy or destruction of reputation. You want that for your grandchildren? Sam's part of our tribe. He done bad and I'm sure he's paying dearly for it. The other bloke's a lyin' fcuk who was complicit in cheating the taxpayer (Us) out of billions on behalf of foreign mining companies.
And Paulie....."local historian"? Jotting down a few memories shouldn't be and isn't History. Memory is ephemeral it shouldn't confined to facts. I don't think you get a win there son.

Of course they are racist. I completely condemn them. I also believe that if you are against the general laws and values of Australia then you should most likely leave. Like I said before there were no winners from the Cronulla riots.#We Stand with ourJewish community#

Rugby League to me is a game for knock abouts, blokes that are up for the physicality, theyre hard arse blokes that are not scared to put their dooks up they have rough edges & some of them get into trouble. If it wasnt for Rugby League at least 20% of them would be in prison. So Sam really fits that criteria.
Its a tribe of meat heads that you & I like to go & watch get it on, you & me arent up for it but we love seeing tough men getting physical.

Sorry but she says her family came out '30 years ago'. News... that means she's more than likely come over with $$$ from Vietnam and been received with open arms (respectfully - as somebody with family in that position who don't feel Australia's been racist towards them or made the transition difficult). Happy to have a chat about my father's family's journey to and from Australia by boat between the 30's and 50's.
I dunno! When I lived in Japan I remember hearing white people whinge about how everybody was 'racist' because suddenly they were in the ethnic minority, their Japanese skills were poor (so they were difficult to understand), they looked different (so kids in small towns who rarely saw non-Asians often pointed out the obvious outta interest) and lotsa curious people asked questions they weren't used to. People regularly yelled English phrases at me then started laughing coz (phrases were generally things like 'BOYS WILL BE AMBITIOUS!!!' Confusing? Yes. Racist? No). Read a bunch of Japan forums online... it's not uncommon for people to get paranoid and think EVERY Japanese person who's privately cracking a joke with their friends is making a racist joke about them (you then probe them about what the people said in Japanese + why they were listening in on their conversation and it's like 'uuum... oh... my Japanese isn't perfect so I can't quote it verbatim but I heard them talking about me... swear I did!!!' Sometimes we just need to cool it and realise that maybe the world doesn't revolve around us. Maybe... just maybe... when you hear 'SQUID GAAAAME'... somebody's actually talking about Squid Game?Last edited by ism22; 10-29-2021, 09:00 PM.

One last thing to mention I don’t care what your ancestry is I take people for what they are, if we get on we get on if we don’t we don’t it has nothing to do with race or religion.

[QUOTE=Headless Chook; Never heard league players called a 'tribe' before. I have heard of the tribalism of rugby league but that refers to the various clubs. Either way, I do not want Sam Burgess associated with my 'tribe' in anyway.
You're trying to play with words HC and not making a very good fist of it. Let me express it for you - you don't much care for the South Sydney CLUB, its history, culture and membership. The players are a different thing, these days they can seldom be identified with a particular club, they're mercenaries. Are Keary, or the Butchers in your tribe?
