I think that's the big reason why corporates buy into cancel culture. No profit-driven enterprise wants bad media coverage..... Saying 'get farked you whinger' will cause issues. ....Maybe we should just cancel Squid Games if people find its title offensive when they overhear somebody talking about it?
You're missing the point. The entire issue goes to the nub of the concept of political correctness. Most societies now actively discourage words and actions that reflect negatively on minorities and fair enough, we need to value good manners after all. Not only "we" but organisations who would prefer their hard won reputations not be sullied by loose cannons or by the carelessness of their employees (note that, at last, Jonesy is unemployed which is a bit of a joke considering Murdoch's reputation).
I feel for the Captain, young virile men have been yelling out to females for millennia but "What's doing darling?" (an old very successful line of mine back in the day) is not tinged with a racial connotation and nor is "get farked you whinger" and with such a high profile (surely in (or was in) the running for the face of Rugby League) Teddy and others needed/needs to be far more circumspect and aware that when out in public more is expected of him. Certainly the ARL, his employer, is entitled to expect more.
The remark wasn't overheard either. It was yelled from a blokey group no doubt grinning lasciviously, beers in hand, at the object. There's wit and topicality in it too but the NRL wouldn't see it that way - "bringing the game (The NRL) into disrepute? It's a wide category but by his rep and his association it's a possibility.
Halfway through the last round when the Chooks were just hangin' in, I was tempted to think we'd got rid of the wrong Fullback - Teddy often seemed to be going through the motions. In the final several rounds, however, he was inspirational and this episode is a disappointing end to his year. It is what it is however and there's no use trying to put a gloss on it but, fcuk. Scomo has got far more to answer for and none of that is debated here.

LOL
ScoMo has nothing to answer for, he's been brilliant since the election.
"What's doing darling?" ?
You'd likely get into trouble for that today. lol
Men are today, for calling women 'darling', 'love' etc.

I saw Reynolds crying in front of me after the game and yelled out 'WHAT ARE YOU CRYING ABOUT?!?!? GO SAY SORRY TO COOPER YOU GRUB!!!' He looked up at me with a pretty broken looking face.

BTW I thought it was a rubbish series.

Maybe a decision at 5pm today as they walk out the door for the weekend.
