Also, yeah YTKR is a pretty well known brand amongst the footy world like I said. Their clothing brand for example sells well and the market for this sort of stuff is only opening up - Bloke for example.
Norman and Segeyaro are founders. Just because I intentionally exclude the fringe first grader that most people never heard of doesn't make me wrong.

And on the point of Isaac. Why is he doing all the work? Is it because they are not making as much money as you think they are?

The success comes down to Isaac because he’s doing the behind the scenes stuff in terms of marketing and setting up appointments with players or sponsors etc.

And if you have a look at the YTKR brand as of now they’ve actually branched out and keep getting players on board. B smith being the most recent one, so hey must have some pull aye?

You’d have to be an idiot to not see the marketing potential in this venture with the new digital age and social media. As evidenced by Kemps success who mind you built his following purely off his personality and through the fans.

Anywho back on smith, he is apparently very keen to move into something similar.

Its only Queensland ... I don't think they mind up there.

He has just signed a deal with a label “ YKTR “ which is a pretty big space in the footy world and apparently smith is keen to move into this venture when he is done with footy so we are trying to sell him the idea of Nick and co looking after him with this aspect and helping him set it all up… similar to what we offered Cronk.

If it’s enough to get him to come here we don’t know yet obviously but I’m hearing it’s pretty enticing and could make us favourites.
Makes me wonder how important Bouris is as a mentor. Bloke in a Bar listened to his advice on ramping up his brewing operations and I now see his beers in all my local liquor stores (they're pretty decent).

A schoolmate had a dad who was CEO of a significant investment bank and he was a self-made millionaire mid-way through uni. We used to hang out a bit on a social level (he's too busy these days and hard to get a hold of) but he told me his dad's policy was to give him $0. He'd give him all the advice in the world, but no free money.

IMO the NRL pays enough that you get 'a good start in life'. However, lots players who have made good coin:
          - Get scammed by shyte investments (e.g. Craig Wing) and have to find another way forward (e.g. play for Souffs then find a $1m a year contract playing rugby in Japan). Side note, I would take ANY financial advice from Packer, Phone Chucker or the shills like Firepower who Souffs invite inside their 4 walls.
          - Blow it all and end up dealing drugs and shyte to try and 'make it back quickly' (e.g. LOD and Gordon - two people who most woulda thought of as high quality dudes).

With good advice, $1m can turn into $100m and a lifetime of financial freedom. IMO if we can offer that sorta stuff to players then it's way more valuable than earning a few more hundred grand here and there through footy contracts.

JWH is probably a decent example! I'd say he's taken unders for some years now (I'd say $700k a season or less). However, he's living it up in Mosman and is set for life. Even dudes like Guerra set themselves up for life. That's what you wanna be IMO...

So true.... even as a fan I'd love the opportunity to sit down with some of those successful board members and try to educate myself a little. I am so not entrepreneurial and wish I had that to pass on to my kids. Being 50 and divorced I'd love to see what Nick would do with say $200K if he had to start from scratch from my age! I don't need to be rich, but would love to make sure I own my own little place at retirement age and can leave a little something to get my kids started.

            • "As much as the Dolphins and Titans have seemed bullish about landing Smith’s signature, there’s a feeling when Sydney Roosters kingpin Nick Politis wants to land a player he generally hits his mark.

Cooper Cronk, Sonny Bill Williams, Angus Crichton and Joseph Suaalii are all recent examples."

I believe the Chooks will get him.

Hoops' mispredictions are a much greater force than Uncle Nick.

I hope your right. As much as I love Sammy Verrills, Smith is next level and will take the Chooks to the next level with him.

Said forced to tip his destination, Buzz leans to Easts.
Thank you. One of the greatest analogies regarding a footy player imo.

When johns gave him that moniker on the night of the all stars game I think. Only to be disregarded and reduced to the block of cheese.

I picture that crazy festival they have in England chasing the wheel of cheese down the hill, usually resulting in people getting destroyed.

That's Brandon Smith, the Wheel of cheese, or the cheese if you like.

                    • I Remember being excited prior to us signing SBW. We heard the rumours for months but nothing was confirmed. Then all of a sudden the chooks held a press conference announcing the signing. I was so pumped up.

I haven't felt the same until now, if we manage to get his signature it will be up there with one of our best signings.

                      That's just my opinion.

                      • It’s one of those things. Roosters always seem to have a fullback, half and hooker that are all rep players.

                        mini/teddy
                        fitler/Pearce/Maloney/cronk
                        Wing/Friend.
They only played there that didn’t play rep in his prime was friend. But he was behind the greatest hooker of all time.

I just don’t see Verrills cracking rep footy. So welcome, Brandon.

                        • The chooks seem to get there man when its more about the coming to a professional club and improving as a footballer and person.
If it's money driven then we probably miss out.

B smith is coming from arguably the most professional club in the NRL and under the best coach so I’m going to rule out that for a motive.

I mean he’ll want to join a competitive club no doubt, but I really think the highest bidder will get him.

                              Agree. Time will tell

                              • Man I hope we get him. Love Verrills but Smith is definitely that elite level player that could turn our already incredible team into a real premiership force for the years to come. Imagine him with Keary, Walker and Teddy all in our spine? Gives me shivers just thinking about it.
