After weghing up the pros and cons of The Cheese's power game, I wonder if we should be looking at someone a little more krafty.

THE SYDNEY SIDE FAVOURITE TO SIGN SMITH
After being hit with four offers on Wednesday, Brandon Smith is one of the hottest off-contract players on the market.
Smith’s management confirmed that the Titans, Dolphins, Cowboys and an un-named club had already tabled offers but they were yet to hear from the team Smith was hoping to receive an offer from.
“One of the clubs who were interested in Brandon Smith, their e-mail server crashed this week so they actually couldn’t get their offer in,” Read said on Triple M.
“He will have all the offers on the table I’d say at some stage this week, and at some point, he will sit down with Melbourne and we will have some sort of resolution.
“Look at that spine, and the other players they’ve got, and clubs have come in for Smith at around the $800k mark or more, it is going to be really hard for Melbourne to keep Brandon.
“My gut feel is the Roosters; I think they are favorites for him and then I think the Dogs and Titans are probably level pegging for second spot.
“If you look at their spine, Sam Walker and Sam Verrils aren’t on a lot of money so I think they have money up their sleeve.”

from Fox Sports - "As of November 1 it appears the gloves will be well and truly off with a host of clubs including the powerful Sydney Roosters, Gold Coast Titans and possibly even the NRL’s 17th team the Dolphins poised to submit their best offers."
“We’ve said all along we’ll be waiting until November 1 when clubs can officially table contract offers and then making our next move from there,” Martin told Fox Sports.
“I’ll be sending out an email to all clubs on Monday letting them know that if they’re still interested then it’s time to submit their best offer for Brandon.
“We’ll soon separate the wheat from the chaff. It’s no longer about expressions of interest.”

Not saying I either want or don’t want Smith. But what pisses me off is the whole agent/shopping thing where they have basically said come with your highest offer over $800k. To me he will be a player that leaves whatever club he chooses this time around as soon as he can again. I know loyalty is decreasing by the day,but honestly it’s making all sports worse. Now I know I can leave my employer for more cash, but the difference between $100k $ 150k for the normal person is far more than $700k to $800k for these blokes.I would rather take $100k less & be at a good club,1 with history, culture, soul & a chance at success.$100k extra at a crappy club like Dogs where you train in a shit part of the city, have a shit supporter base, less history & class & 0% chance at a premiership, or less at a foundation club (or even a strong performing club like Storm), that breeds success.
Success also means more endorsements, better rep honours, better trainers & support staff & usually a longer career.

The Chooks need 2 massive names to add to the team to win the comp. Smith would be a great first.
2nd ideally Cleary but if Walker & Keary stay fit then Hass.
Losses Cordner, Friend, BMoz, Liu, JMoz, Ikuvalu
Gains Momirovski, Naiqama, Atoni, Brown.
Like I said 2 BIG names have to come into the team to win the comp IMO.
