Of course. But if they're going to offer him a contract upgrade worth around $1.1 million (hypothetically) we'd be all surprised if he turned that down especially since his most recent enquiries etc with the Canterbury Bulldogs for example was motivated by "more money".

read my previous post, it’s not about money he wants to devote himself to Islam and Sydney around SBW & crew is the place for him to do this. He believes it will get his life back on track plus the business perks after footy through Politis. Sonny is his mentor and he is steering him through the experience of his career.

Sourcing other offers is just a smokescreen IMO.
Payne's future has been mapped out between his advisors and snr Roosters management with whom they have a close and respectful relationship.
Initially it won't be about $ but more about stability, playing consistently well and being in a winning culture.
        The cream will follow.

If that is the case I think that would be amazing. The quality of Easts as a club and how they care for and develop players must be hard to resist for smart players. If that is what Haas wants the Roosters is the best place for him to be.

so the same sources that informed me lastyear about Haas’s handshake agreement are now saying it’s officially a done deal between 2 of the heavy hitters (KNasser & NPolitis). It’s not for a million dollars ( Approx 780-850k), he’s not persuaded by the dollars & wants to devote himself to Islam following in SBW’s footsteps in Sydney to setup his career involving the Roosters. Definitely for 2024 maybe 2023. Enjoy and Up those Chooks!!!!!
thanks for sharing this Grubber. Exciting news.

              • If its $800k, I imagine Angus may be looking elsewhere to free up this space.

JWH may be gone by then as well, not that his salary would cover Haas alone.

Most likely 2024, so it will be a straight swap for JWH

JWH on around $800k plus cap to increase by 2024

                    hopefully Gus not going anywhere

It'll probably be Sio Siua Taukeiaho's contract plus a bit more $$$ as JWH will play on in 2023 and potentially/possibly one more season as an extension if he's feeling up to it. I don't think the club would hesitate to keep him on for one more year if JWH was keen and fit but obviously time will tell, he'll be around 35 years of age by then so let's see. There's also plenty of young talent coming through as well.

SST is currently on approx $650,000 - $700,000 per season and his current contract expires at the end of this season so his contract as a direct swap for Haas plus a bit extra makes sense.

I was under the impression that Brandon Smith's contract/salary was going to be made up of the money from the likes of = Cordner, Friend and Liu

That would mean we are playing $1.5 mill under the cap this year

                            • Confirmed by Robbo that SST is off to Catalans next year, mentioned that the club has not spoken to Haas at all, he was always going to say that though.

                                Not so sure about that.
