Sammy linked to the Dolphins now.
Fark Skeletor. Don't release him to that flog.

As I said, I am glad you aren't managing our cap.

I just love Smiths explosiveness & toughness but I also think Sam has the potential to be one of the top No 9's in the game if he is 100% fit with another season or 2 under his belt. I think Sam should go back to Manly if it doesnt work out at the Chooks.
              Always a risk, right?

That said, surely we've done our research. Why would we bother chasing Smith if we thought Verrills and Watson had more potential?

The Drizz have done something similar. Smith's the better player today, but they think Grant has more potential. I'd say the salary cap's playing out too. You've gotta make calls on players!

We've lost Friend and I think that's the bigger consideration. We need a replacement for him.

Smith is one of the best players in the game. An absolute gun. I’m stoked we got him and if Sam is the cost so be it.

Sammy V is good but Smith is a special talent, this is an upgrade and a great move by the club.

I like Sammy V but with all due respect he is not on Brandon Smith’s level!

Yeah I farking hate the Drizz but still respect him. Who else is that sort calibre? We're talking what...
                      - Cook (mostly an attacking #9 though? Point taken he had that 1 mad save but he's a classy hole runner, not a toiler)
                      - Hodgson (has been weaker as those dodgy strips have become less popular/effective)
                      - Grant (similar story to Cook IMO)
                      - [Koroisau, Mahoney, Rein... start including DCE... nup for all of them IMO]

Each to their own but I don't think there's a lot of good hookers out there right now Smith's the only one I'd bother signing. Given the lack of quality out there, I reckon he'll make a fark load of impact.

I think he is the best player the Storm have for a start and I was saying that well before we chased him.

He has an impact every game.

I think fans not keen on this signing were the ones not keen on SBW & Cronk also.

Verrills is a solid player, but that is about it.

                          Smith is a star

He's the best No 9 in the game thats why Robbo, Bellamy & Bennet all want him.
Every coach in the NRL wants him, say no more.

To win a comp or to compete at that end of the year, I don't think you need the best 9 in the game....

The last few years... Api/Cook/Smith/Mahony/Friend/Verrils/ Grant etc etc could all have played for the eventual premiers and the I'm not sure the result would change ( You could probably add in others...)

When we won in 2019 we had a rookie.... Api was a rookie when he won with the Rabbits... both played a role in quality teams .... When Cam Smith or the GOAT retired the Storm didn't miss a beat!!!! I'm starting to think there is way too much over estimation on the impact a 9 has on the game.

They're an important part of the make up of the team but you can get away with an average 9 if the other playmakers are exceptional. In 2019 we had Teddy, Keary and Cronk. Api was a rookie but they had an exceptional team with GI at the back, Reynolds at 7 and Sutton to help take the pressure off the likes of Keary. Interestingly, Storm stumbled the moment that Smith failed to come back on to the field in the Prelim. If he doesn't get hurt Melbiourne may have gone back to back.

We probably can't afford to go with an average dummy half because of the pressure it puts on Teddy and Keary. I see Smith as the ideal pick up to take pressure off these guys and allow Sammy W more time to develop his game without having to be a 'go to' player in our team at such a young age
