I thank the cheese for his honesty in the interview. So often all we hear is cliches. In this instance, we find out:
    1. How excellent Rooster recruitment is
    2. How substandard Dolphins and Titans are in comparison
    3. Insights into the hidden World of the Storm culture
    4. In providing this, BS has created the Greatest Rooster recruitment advertising campaign. I’m certain all the players would have watched across all clubs

I didn't know Isaac Johns was such a massive fan of the Roosters!

Sign him up as a recruitment Officer now!

        Get Haas onto the show!

We let him go early, i) Because he wanted to leave ii) It was in the best interests of both parties to let him go, and grant him an early release.

Exactly the same situation exists with Smith and the Storm. They have said the situation is untenable and he has insulted the Storm club, the coach, and all Storm players have been disrespected.
Smith wants out since he doesn't want to play second fiddle to Grant. The big Storm press release after the podcast suggested the Storm were appalled, furious over his comments so there is no turning back.

Unless of course what the Storm said in the press release was a whole lot of bullshit, which they now want to renig on..

Seems to me that is the case - and they want him to play for the Storm in 2022.

So how is that beneficial to both parties? if what you read in the press is right, Storm have insulted him as a second string player, and club, fans and coach want him to go.

          Its all B/S

I smell a rat in all of this. I reckon Bellyache and the Storm have had second thoughts about losing Smith. That's why they want him for 2022 They have finally come to their senses and realize what a great player he is . They will re-think all that crap about Grant being first choice hooker, and if I were the coach ( you don't have to be Einstein, just watch the last Prelim ) to realize that Grant is way, way way overrated .

The Storm will make a big play to try to retain Smith, I reckon that's a given.

As nutty as it may seem, I think Smith and the Roosters are far from a done deal.

          Watch this space.
Not sure if you're aware, but the Storm have already announced the departure of the Cheese at the end of 2022. So unless they decide to backflip on their official announcement, then it's already confirmed that he is leaving.

Do the Storm have the morals of Daly Cherry-Evans. The former not Titan knows all about contractual obligations.

Gee the Storms are in a pickle aren’t they?
They need to hang on to him but you can’t see it happening from their comments.

I can see it triggering a lot of player swap for 2022.
              ..it’ll be interesting to see

I'm sure the Storm have more integrity than DCE LOL
This is more about the PR and brand that they have as an organisation as opposed to an individual.

I wonder which player at the Chooks the Storm would most like to have?
I think Sitilli or Crighton maybe Suaalii.

Agreed, and listening to the other bloke, he already knew how good the Chooks whole set-up is, so I'd assume most players already knew.

If I remember correctly this was one of the driving forces behind the current policy of not negotiating before November 1 of the year preceding contract expiry. Wasn't there a 'cooling off' period that DCE took advantage of so as to up his price from Manly?

Yes they have said not until 2023, but the Storm can only take so much before they lose patience with him.
Smith goes hard no matter what. It’s how he plays the game and it’s why we want him.

You are correct. Negotiations for new contracts need to happen the year before they're due. Especially if a player makes a meal of the negotiations. And let's be honest, Brandon Smith made out like he was a suitor looking for a dowry.

I know he's going to be worth the money but it was very messy.
