Like mine, 99% of his posts are likely complete bollocks. However, this is a footy forum so I'd expect no less. Congrats mate!

Hopefully you find that fur coat one day. I actually have a similar story FWIW... while living in Japan I was in a small town so always splurged when I had a trip to the big city. One weekend I did a trip to Kyoto (okay not a massive city but... much bigger than my nearest city). In Kyoto I bought this frigging mint Paul Smith winter jacket. Never seen anything like it... rugged corduroy outside plus this super warm lining. Big pockets too. This was my goto jacket for years (wore it when my daughter was born and the mum abducted her so most of our warm memories together involve that jacked). Anyway, one day it just disappeared. I backtraced everywhere I'd been but nup... no jacket! I've even tried sourcing the same jacket on ebay and stuff but there's nothing like it out there.

Jack's story always reminds me that I'm not alone and for that I thank him.

WHAT REALLY HAPPENED TO PIECE OF FOOTY HISTORY

HARVEY Howard vividly remembers the afternoon he strutted around home in Jack Gibson’s famous fur coat.

“Looking every inch like a pimp,” he laughed.

The 110kg English prop was packing up his Cronulla home, only days after starring in Brisbane’s 2000 grand final win, for a return to the UK and Super League powerhouse Wigan.

“I remember my partner at the time, she comes into the room saying: ‘What the bloody hell have you got on’?” he grinned.

“You have to remember, we’re talking about a three-quarter, kangaroo skin coat. She couldn’t believe it.

“But I’ve said: ‘Listen, you’ve no idea the history of this thing’. No idea how many pictures it’s been in.

“So to then have it stolen a few weeks later — mate, absolute f...ing nightmare.” It has now been almost 20 years since Howard lost league’s most famous coat. Thanks to who knows how many images of the late, great super coach in that coat, it was almost as famous as the man himself. Like when Big Jack coached Parramatta to the 1983 premiership, his third straight title.

According to some, Gibson lost it during a United States holiday in the 1980s. His late wife Judy once said she “couldn’t have been happier” learning the coat she so despised was lost going through Los Angeles.

But Howard, who now lives in Bowral and works as a specialist beekeeper, has a different story.

“Jack gave it to me in 2000,” he said.

The big prop first arrived at Bondi Junction on a loan deal in 1993, where he quickly became close with Gibson, who by then was out of coaching but still working as Roosters manager.

So tight did the pair become, Howard even bought a neighbouring home in Gunnamatta Bay, where for the next seven years he continually returned for playing stints, holidays and countless afternoons fishing with the super coach.

“After the 2000 Grand Final win, I was heading back to England,” Howard said. “So I called around to see Jack, say my goodbyes.

“But as I’m leaving he says: ‘I’ve got something for you, something to keep you warm in the UK’. Then he brought out the coat.

“I said: ‘Oh, Jack, I can’t take that’. But he says: ‘It’ll keep you warm’.” So Howard got Big Jack to scribble inside the lining: “To my good mate Harvey, best wishes, Jack Gibson.” From there, the coat was then taken home — receiving a quick spin around the lounge room — before being locked inside a shipping container which, on the docks at Botany Bay, contained all the furniture, belongings, even a new Mitsubishi Pajero, Howard was taking to the UK.

“But just to be sure, I actually locked the coat inside the Pajero. Thought it couldn’t be safer,” he said.

“A few weeks after arriving back in England, I get this phone call (from police) saying the Pajero had been stolen. I couldn’t believe it. I mean, who gets a f...ing car stolen from inside a shipping container? It doesn’t happen.” Yet it did.

“Inside job apparently,” Howard said. “Organised by someone at the dock. “The cops actually found the bloke too, chased him and he crashed my brand new Mitsubishi Pajero. “Inside the vehicle, I’d also locked memorabilia and some of my partner’s valuables. But when the cops phoned, my only question was: ‘Mate, have you found a jacket’?” Sadly, nobody had. Nor in the 20 years since. “In the (police) report, the guy said he tossed out,” Howard said. “Still, you just never know.” Which is why occasionally, when browsing through op shops or antique stores, Howard will cast an eye across the clothing racks for an old fur coat.

“Because it could be that the jacket is long gone,” he said. “But still, I love to think it’s out there somewhere. “Jack’s signature unmistakeable on the inside, just waiting to turn up.”

I just saw Jack's Fur Coat has been here 7 years longer than me so maybe combined we're closer.

Season lasts about 30 weeks, any more than 10 posts per week average is OTT. So 300 per year could be considered a reasonable quota.
Jack is about 3 times over that,
13 is about 4 times over,
how lucky we are that they are so generous in sharing their vast knowledge with us.

i don't post as much these days just been around a while. Thirteen, for instance , has over 12 grand in the bank. His son Fourteen may yet overtake him one day.
