Originally posted by Headless Chook View PostI disagree. With players like Isaac Luke, John Sutton, Dave Taylor, Sam Burgess, Greg Inglis and Nathan Merritt there's enough creativity there. What they have lacked is a general who takes the right option at the right time....kicks long when its needed, finds the line to control the tempo, goes wide when Inglis has space and time...basically a half who can follow a game plan. Sandow was never that sort of player. I liked the look of Reynolds and I think he will be great for Souths....he had a calmness and assuredness about him that Souths have lacked in recent times.
IMO they should've closed the game up against us. Melba would never have let that occur. I still reckon with Sandcow they'd have put 50 on us. But I guess they couldn't rnd 1 last year and I reckon both games were very similar.
I agree that's what Spadge will be aiming for, to clone Melba and Cronk. Again time will tell I guess.
If they end up with Cronk, then I would really rate them. I hope that never happens.
The FlogPen .
You know it makes sense.

I don't honestly see this new bloke they've banked on is even 1/2 the player Sandcow is. IMO Souffs need a creative player.
I gather they're banking on becoming another Melba. May work, but it sure hasn't for Watsamatta.

To tell you the truth, if I was coaching (and I do assistant coach junior baseball), I would take the same approach. The last thing you want is a victim mentality. But as a pure long time mug roosters fan, the stats are indisputable - for 5 years each week we have played opponents that, irrespective of their records under the refs all season, miraculously attain almost perfection in their discipline against us in the "opinions" of the refereeing officials. Again the other night, not one penalty for offside or ruck infringements for 70 minutes awarded to us. There were some clear infringements they could have pinged rusty's vermin for, but didn't. Hilariously, in the final few minutes they gave us a couple of penalties to try and make the count look better and, as Brain pointed out, they stuffed up as that was all we needed to win.

Its was not the same forwards as last year for souffs. They have a fully fit Burgess, who looks to have added 5 kegs. Player 1. You can talk about refs call all you like, if you enjoy that, visit a teams forum every day after a loss. We won the game, and did so against the odds.
what is worse than a sore loser? A sore winner! You must be one of those supporters that think the refs gifted the merge 24 odd points in the 2010 GF.
Some supprters look at the highs, rather than focus on the lows.

This really nice lady and her daughter were wandering around in Souths gear near Southern Cross station and she looked a bit lost so I went up to her and told her how I hoped they would win on Sunday. I told her straight away that I was a Roosters fan and she said that she thinks the Roosters would have a good season and congratulated me on the win. She also said that although she loves Souths and will never give up on them even though all her friends at work back in Sydney are Roosters fans. She made me laugh so much when she said, "Love, there seems to be a lot of feral people around Melbourne on the trains!"
Well done rwb. As much as I give rival fans a ribbing I get on really well with them all. All good fun.
At the end of the day we are League fans (even vermin lol).
And ferals exist EVERYWHERE, not just on the trains.
