  • Happy Birthday ESDRLFC

Today marks the 114th anniversary of the foundation of our mighty Sydney Roosters (ESDRLFC).

I'm so proud to support the greatest sporting club in the country. And it is such an achievement that our Easts is the only team to have participated in every season of first grade.

15 premierships, 20 Minor Premierships, 5 World Club Challenge Cups, numerous other trophies and achievements and still going strong.

the club could so easily have gone under with the changing demographics but just goes to show how important good leadership is

No way. I live local and can tell you that there is still a very strong local support base from amongst the new demographic.

Probably helped by the collapse of yawnion.

Such a proud history, and now with Robbo at the helm these are truly great days/years to be a Roosters fan. We will have lean years in the future at some point, and we'll look back on these times now with even greater fondness. I cannot wait for the season to start.

the club's got better than average support but we've got the smallest geographical area in the comp and it's not the rugby league nursery it used to be. for us to survive is a tribute to good decision making off the park as much as good playing on it, but sure our recent success has got us lots of local support. compare us to brisbane, the second largest league playing city in the world and it's remarkable that we've won a couple of comps recently and they've won a wooden spoon.

We may have the smallest geographical area, but luckily that includes a lot of high profile and high wealth supporters who want to see their club keep succeeding.

yeah, that's part of it but money won't win you comps. the broncos are richer than us and they narrowly avoided getting 2 wooden spoons in a row. the money is necessary but not sufficient - without nick being at the helm making smart calls we could have gone the way of wests, balmain or even the bears

I went up to the East Leagues club to pick up my membership card last Monday, all i can say about the Leagues club is why was it closed for so long for all the so called renovations ? the place is worse that what it was before the renovations, absolutely souless, all pokies completely on the ground floor now and the bistro is worse than what it was before, i only dined there because i had vouchers which made it really cheap.

Any way despite the Leagues club being a hole it is great that our great football club has celebrated 114 years going strong.

The first time I went to the club was pre-game before the first game at the SFS. Schooners were $1. We loved the place. We became regulars. You'd see Gus there by himself betting on the dogs. We'd go to Shotz Pool Room after games. Then head to Archies. You'd see Gus there as well. The last time I went was about 5 years ago. What a shithole it has become. Sad to hear it hasn't changed
