Scored 4 tries in reserve grade game that day. When he came on as a replacement in first grade the ground announcer said that man David Smith, i think referring to the 4 tries but also maybe to the Micky Lane rumour.

          Thanks for that.

Man our 9 is a real livewire, has some real speed and a great step on him.

I'm fairly sure our last try in HMatts is scored by Freddy's son Zac.
            Fark what a step.

David Smith saved us on a few occasions with the boot back in 87, especially at Henson Park..

I still shake my head that we didn’t make the GF that year!

Against Canterbury and Cronulla come to mind at Henson and also against Canterbury at Belmore.

The major semi final between East and Manly was one of the hardest games i have ever seen, both teams belted each other into oblivion, , both sides scored one try each and both had one try disallowed, i still reckon Danny Shepherds try was a fair one, who ever lost that was always going to battle the week after after such a physical encounter and the team who won was going to need the week off to get over it, unfortunately it was Manly who pipped us in the game to go straight into the Grand Final.

I watched a replay of that game a couple of weeks ago on Youtube, brutal game. I saw Shepherd's no try and thought the same as you. But then Cliffy had a try disallowed where his whole body ended up over the try line through momentum. I think that was a square up. Graham Hughes was blowing up deluxe over both of them in the commentary

Yes i agree, i reckon Cliff Lyons try was a fair try also.

Orana Park or Alf Duguid - use to play there as it was Campbelltown City Kangaroos home ground - not as good as our East Campbelltown Eagles one now called Tint Me Up Waminda Oval International Sports Stadium

The Mighty East Campbelltown Eagles will get some decent home crowds now they are back in the new Macarthur Group 6 Conference

It's been 35 years since I've been to Waminda oval maybe more for school sport. From memory it was a dust bowl Worrell Park was much nicer.

I don't agree with group 6 moving so far north but I guess it had to happen after a few teams cannibalize the smaller clubs. My son played 12 seasons for Bowral until they had to merge with Moss Vale and Robbo and they have moved to group 7. They are no longer West juniors.
