Thanks Mal - but wasn't it - Rugby League has done nothing for me?

You don't know what you're missing.

Salvo, you are on a RL forum champ.

take your love affair for chess with helmets elsewhere.

This is where the worlds toughest team sport of RL and the Roosters in particular are celebrated.

No doubt there's some great athletes in the NFL but to say they would be sensations in the NRL is a stretch. A bit like a League fan thinking Jaryd Hayne was going to be a star in the NFL. They might look good cutting through the defensive line with blockers shouldering the defenders out of the way, but wonder how they would fair after having to make 20 tackles, continually get up off the ground and back 10m and without the long breaks they get between plays in the NFL. I think most of them would lose a lot of that explosiveness very quickly

I would doubt any of them would want to switch to RL anyway -way more $$$$$$$$$$$$$ in NFL even for Rookie players

NFL Min wage was 660,000 US in 2021- that's 922k AUS- Big pay days come with Free Agency

            Practice squad

Rookies and players with two or fewer accrued NFL seasons make at least $9,200 a week. 'Accrued' stands for when a player is on full-time pay status for a minimum of six regular-season games. This means that these players would be making what's equivalent to $165,600 for 18 weeks spent on the practice squad

I know that. I wasn't suggesting that they would. There were a couple of comments saying that this player or that player would be great in the NRL and I was responding to that

Your love affair with pointy ball helmet chess has nothing to do with the title of the thread.

NRL is the toughest team sport. Tougher than NFL by the length of the straight!

$$$$$$$$$$$$ doesn’t make it tough. It means advertising rules the code. Enjoy watching the ads with a few mins of helmet chess thrown in. Tough sport that!

How bad is the one on one low tackling in NFL? Defenders constantly wrong footed and just beaten cold.

                    Here's a sample.

You would get some shockers in League as well if they went through all the tapes of every game over the last 10 years.

You could have similar one's of worst NRL tackles too

Try this one- but don't try it at home- You can see why concussions are a major problem in NFL - Helmets don't eliminate concussions

Even had Deion Sanders who played top Level NFL (14 Seasons) and MLB (9 seasons) - only Athlete to play in both a Superbowl and a World Series and a standout in both of these sports especially when playing for the Atlanta Falcons (NFL) and Atlanta Braves (MLB).

I dont watch or have any interest in the NFL but its a tough game.
They catapult/project themselves at each other head first at speed & Ive seen footage over the years where the clash of 2 helmets has been sickening & the 2 fellows wearing the helmets are knocked out.
Plenty of blokes get major injuries playing it, imagine a 140kg giant landing on your ankle.
But the League leaves it for dead because the League doesnt have a mothers meeting after every tackle, its ridiculous.

Some of you guys on here are intimating that the players in the NFL can't tackle.
Its not what I see - some of the tackling is harder than anything I see in our game.
When I mentioned Mixon, I was just being objective about what I see in the US game.
He was running through and over the top of players, he has a sidestep and is evasive, and if you didn't notice in quarter 1, he was hemmed in against the sideline .
So what does he do- he accelerates and almost gets away.
So he is big , runs with the power of one of our forwards, is elusive and bloody fast - not too many in the NRL that will do that..
If you think that hits in our game are going to be harder than theirs, think again.
                            Physics.
                            Force = mass x velocity.
Fact - Their players are way heavier than ours , and are way faster.
I would also rather listen to opinions on hardness and toughness on the 2 sports, from people who are open - minded enough to watch both, and are interested in both games.
If you follow rugby league exclusively, don't you think it is a little naive and narrow minded to say our code is the toughest in the world?

Players have to get back on side and into position why there is a time gap between each down - 25 to 40 seconds is usually the period of time - each team has 3 x 2 minute time outs each half - use it strategically to run down the clock and or avoid a penalty.

I like it when they come out to measure the downs- football chain and down markers- you would be surprised what they are paid though
