Heres the dilemma that I see with Volkman. The guy is 19 years old, so he himself would expect to be starting for a team in the next year or two. Truthfully, barring an early concussion retirement from Keary, Volkman is not going to overtake him or Walker, nor will he get the utility spot over CW. Obviously the guy is indeed a special talent. He was a dual threat running and kicking talent in high school and is a good conversion kicker. This is why I would like to see him now; maybe if we show a little faith in him he might decide to come back as opposed to playing his whole Roosters career in the Norths colours. As it stands the Dolphins and Storm are in a fight for Jahrome Hughes and I would not be shocked to see the loser of that fight come after a talent such as Volkman. As much as I hate Bellamy and Skeletor, I have to admit that they are phenomenal coaches who develop talent exceptionally well (not as well as Robinson). I would hate to see Volkman end up with either those coaches
for the sake of volkmans development he is better off under a bellamy or bennett then a mcguire, brown or walters.

That's not really fair on him. He trialled at full back and the experiment failed. End of story. Still room for him in the club just not in first 17. He has excellent spirit and is a local junior.

Volkman just needs some defensive practice. Same as Walker (who has improved). But could you imagine having 2 turnstile halves in defence? We can't afford it.

I hope he picks up his defensive game then we will be cooking.

I don't get why a 19yo would be expecting to be starting in the NRL in a year or two when they have really done nothing to prove that they are actually up to it. I'm sure if Volkman shows it on a regular basis for Norths and at training than Robbo will find a way to reward him, but I don't see us ditching a guy who proved he is of NRL standard in tough times last year to appease an untried rookie

I'm not sure it matters where he plays. He just looks all at sea in everything he does. Yes there is probably room for him at the Bears. Volkman even with his limited experience looks so much better than Lam.

I hate to lose a junior, but he would be perfect for Super League.

I just don't see anything outstanding in Lam's game. He is reasonably solid in most areas, but nothing to set him apart from any other average grade footballer.

I wonder if Wacko Jacko will be playing against us this week? It will be very interesting to see how he goes in the NRL after being so successful in the ESL. I don't watch the ESL, so I'm curious to see - it should be very indicative of the difference in standard between the 2 comps.

Jai Field (ex-Dragons and Eels) scored a hat trick for Wigan against Leeds on the weekend. Considering he struggled to make an impact in the NRL I think you can safely say that the ESL is still a ways behind the NRL

If he leaves I couldn’t give a shit about his development.

lam always appears rushed and frantic. the best halves seem to have oodles of time to kick , pass, run etc.

Manu to hooker and Teddy being sacked for being our worst buy in history before we see Volkman ahead of Hutch.

Before we see Volkman as a regular first grader he needs to practice his high defence potential at Norths.

And one 40/20 and a comment by a commentator who’s never seen him play before doesn’t mean he’s a great kicker. It’s about consistency.

But yes definitely plenty of potential there and a great prospect. And went to Waverley college so must be considered a Roosters junior.
He's played for Paddo Colts for a number of years now so that's a yes from me.

I think also he's quicker than others have said, I reckon he was gassed when run down the other night and the reaction of the senior blokes not playing seems to add weight to that.

He has a lot of potential, but let's remember he's hardly played in the last couple of years due to covid. I'd love to see him get a crack at some stage, if it's meant to happen it will.

I cant see a 18YO Walker & a 19 YO Volkman as the Rd 1 halves combo if Keary is out. I dont think Keary will be out.

Kind of like 2016 again but with a better outcome
