Seems like another expense for the club? I might be wrong but wouldn't our own reserve grade team be better?

The Silktails’ participation in the NSWRL’s Ron Massey Cup is proudly supported by the Australian Government through PacificAus Sports.

The NSWRL receives funding from the Australian Government through PacificAus Sports to support the Silktails’ participation in the NSWRL’s Ron Massey Cup.

Any costs to the Roosters could be more than worth it if any Silktail players progress to NRL level though as a result of the agreement they have with the Sydney Roosters.


The Silktails Ron Massey Cup squad is 30 players so a few wont be getting much game time. The Silktails will be a predominantly Under-23 side from 2022 onwards.

By having a Sydney Shield Side in 2022 those players and Sydney Roosters Jersey Flegg players also not getting much game time will be able to get game time in the Sydney Shield.

It would be nice if they played the odd game at Wentworth Park.

I do some voluntary work for Glebe in the Ron Massey Cup. Would love to see the Roosters jumper run out at Wentworth Park.
