People nowadays have access to more information and know a lot more about their their rights etc and are prepared to take action and call perceived injustices out.

Not sure what people are meaning with this "woke" terminology - are they saying you should be able to call people of different races , backgrounds and religions anything they want as it's no big deal and they should harden up and oh it's only a joke etc etc.

It's a bit like that 1960's Aussie film "They're a Weird Mob " a snap shot of the difficulties migrants would face not only in migrating to another country but fitting in and being accepted by the predominately White English speaking population.

I also remember when the Vietnamese folk started arriving how there was a lot of folk against this and they had a hard time in fitting in and being accepted too.

There are still people around with those same views from a bygone era about migrants and people from difference races , backgrounds. and religions etc i.e Alf Garnett/Archie Bunker/Eddie Booths types

To be briefish anyway since you asked....firstly don't think safe just means from war. It also means in terms of livelihoods , mental health, respect and decency for each other, treating people equally without discrimination etc.

The woke crazy has a few main focusses which are all counter productive and make us as a community and as individuals less 'safe'.

Climate Change...the obsession with this leads us to self inflicted economic hardship and living standards. Shutting down key industries, ignoring rich local resources and relying on unreliable expensive energy sources is a dangerous unnecessary path. And scaring our kiddies that the world's in peril etc. is madness.

Covid Response...lockdowns and over policing of innocent people, internal border closures etc. have made us a laughing stock across the world. A mental health killer...the silent pandemic.

Racism....want to grab a fake cause and crucify someone or something? Just cry racism...its been abused repeatedly over the years. And the irony is that those who trot out the 'white privilege' or single out 'white' people as a problem, are surely guilty of the main thing they seem to fear...yup racism.

Gender Fluidity....another burgeoning obsession that defies common sense or logic, especially hammering our kids education programs with it. Live and let live.

The Woke ideology and practices are dominating our education systems incl. Unis, our judiciary, our bureaucracy, Big Tech obviously, and of course politically on both sides of the spectrum.

Yep it's scary....but there's still a few good men (and women). Never give in.

Hardly "woke" to agree with the COVID responses though -Governments under the various constitutions as do Employers have the right to mandate policies for COVID whether it's restricting movement or mandating double vax requirements for employees via PHO's ( Public Health Orders) or workplace policies mandating double vax.

Been through the courts and mandating of double vax via PHO's is legal and under the doctrine of reasonable lawful directions employees have the right to mandate double vax for employees

Under Australian WHS laws employers /business must ensure the health and safety of their workers and not put the health and safety of other people at risk.

People against this are being rather self - centred one has to say - it is for the greater good.

People who are feeling isolated or not coping have access to either Employee Assistance Programs or various Counselling lines- i.e Life Line/Beyond Blue etc.

Climate change is real though and has been happening since day dot - I and one would say others on here are not qualified to say whether or not it's being accelerated by humans

Not sure which industries have been shut down by action on climate change though or aware of the economic hardships and decline in living standards?.

Industries have been shut down or downsized as a result of technological change and or for economics reasons - i.e Global competition -high cost of manufacturing - economies of scale- low AUS Dollar.

If the rest of the world is moving towards clean energy technology it won't matter one iota about what resources are in the ground if no one is buying any of it.

Moving towards new energy technologies will reduce and go towards eliminating the reliance on oil from the middle east and Europe's somewhat reliance on Russian gas and oil.

Certainly need to look at Nuclear Power - For an example France derive 80% of their energy needs from nuclear power.

Advancements in current non fossil fuel technologies and new energy Technologies will phase out reliance on fossil fuels - it's a matter of not if but when.

Racism and Gender Fluidity

Whether liked or not there is legislation for these areas and others and i have no problems about schools teaching kids about this - It's LAW after all so all have to abide by the relevant legislation in these areas as they have to in any aspect of life where legislation or laws exists - can't cherry pick or ignore it because one doesn't like it.

Like a lot of things nowadays people are more aware of their rights and what actions they can take under the law - people might think domestic violence/child abuse and sexual abuse is something relatively new.

It's not of course it's just the victims of these alleged crimes are not suffering in silence anymore and are taking their complaints to the relevant bodies and authorities for investigation and these complaints are being treated seriously which many years ago they weren't.

I feel that woke is when somebody with no skin in the game suddenly reforms their life and/or realises there's an issue they can get all hyped up about so they try to over-compensate by telling others off about every little thing they can think up. Overly pious is one way of putting it. That or simply acting in a way that tells everybody 'I am morally superior and you're all nazis for not meeting my moral standards'.

The terminology can get over-used by people who just wanna discriminate and be dicks (similar to when somebody's calling something 'too PC'... it can be abused) but I think it also has a valid place in the world.

When I picture 'woke' people... I think about (for example) reformed smokers who take it upon themselves to be absolute d!cks to smokers. In short, being woke isn't just about what you do, it's about how you do it.

Will try not to go on a personal rant but as a white Italian who speaks Japanese and was raised by two mums, I cop a lot of woke shyte from people who suddenly become enlightened after they get a bisexual friend, visit Europe for a month or watch a bit of anime. Various woke hipsters have told me I'm 'not really Italian', I have NFI about lesbians and I'm not allowed to talk about Japan as there's Asians in the group... so they would know much more about all parts of Asia than me.
