  • Players you expected big things from but never delivered?

Over the last 20 odd years, who are some of the players that looked the goods coming through but never made it to what you were expecting . Also, who are those players that had a great initial couple of first grade games but faded away.

I think of Trent Clayton, Toa Toa Moga, Anthony Cherrington and Lama Tassi.

Clayton looked awesome in the lower grades but I believe just didn't have the desire to go on with it? Does anybody know the story here?

Moga and Cherrington both had careers wrecked by injuries (leave Cherrington's other issues aside)

Cherrington looked awesome in some games....

Moga never really shone in 1st grade with his minimal opportunity but then got injured but was a beast in the younger grades.

Tassi had a great couple of early games but just fizzed. Ended up in the UK....

Another was Korkidas.... he had some great games and looked tough but faded.....did he have a steroid conviction or the likes??

Who are some other one hit wonders???

What was the forwards name we got from Saints about 10 years ago (guessing) that had wraps but showed nothing

                Willis Meehan

Next big thing until he turned into a knob. Payne Hass size, former Australian schoolboy, with a thing for Casio watches around Star City casino LOL. Worked as a stand-over-man with associated assault charges etc. Also got the punt from the eels and manly. Boxing these days. Complete waste of talent!

The only one I can think of is Jack Bosden. If it's him, I don't know where the wraps came from

                    Jack Bosden....a chookpen superstar

Shame it couldn't translate on the field

Was up there with Ryan Wlliamson

I had big wraps on Abraham Papalii watching him in reserves, the he played 1 game and just disappeared

Yeah he played only one game (one hit wonder ... try on debut as well). I suppose that Robbo and Co didn't see much that he had to offer.

Yeah I can remember there was a poster on the Chookpen at the time who had him as the next big thing. Can't remember who it was but Bosden was never more than a plodder at best. At least Ryan Williamson had an SG Ball Highlights video to justify some of the excitement

Yeah I agree. Wasn't Linnett part of the Cows side that won the comp in 2015

Moga, Hall, Burgess, Slime Ankle, Vunakece, Vinnie Liuluai, Ford, Towers, Tagive, [Meehan], Nene, Garvey, Lamb and Matagi.

Can probably add Willie Wanka, Pyles (at club level) and Nathan Aster to that list too.
