Phil Clarke was the England/Great Britain International Backrower/Lock that only played 12 games - 2 tries - 1995/1996 - I think they signed him half way or so through 1995 - As I said above his career was cut short due to injury (Broken Neck) in round 2 1996 vs Cowboys.
Which was very sad as he was a really good player- at 24 he had his best footy in front of him.- Says really nice things about the Chooks club and how they looked after him post injury in the link below

[QUOTE=Johnny73;
What he may have lacked on the field, he made up for the classroom. He took a lazy, shiftless D grade average student and had me top my year at school in science in year 9. That led to my career in the practical science field.
Onya Johnny. As an ex chalky it's good to hear an inspiring teacher story - the reason for your early Rooster commitment?

When I was younger in the late 80’s early 90’s you had such high hopes for big signings but became used to disappointment like
-Wright
-Vautin
-Papworth
1996-2004( Fittler years) were so good I can’t remember disappointment apart from GF losses.
Later on I would have to say Braith Anasta was a huge disappointment. Even though he played many years for us he was so poor, apart from 2010 field goal, looked like he never wanted to get dirty. Was very soft.
Mark O’Meley and Mason poor as well. Ex Bulldog idea was horrible.
if I go through younger players that didn’t make it:
- Ryan Williamson
- T Moga
Both looked like absolute superstars in juniors.
