  • SCG NRL Debacle

Buzz writes in his column today:

    Images expose SCG NRL debacle

We have been inundated with complaints from fans forced to wait in long queues for hot food on Saturday.
One punter on Twitter wrote: "Most bars and food outlets are closed. Seating restricted to limited areas. Long queues for food and beer, hundreds of people long. It's an absolute mess".

    #####

Yes, fans treated like shyte again.
Jamming large numbers of fans into small limited areas is hardly Covid safe.
    Whatever happened to social distancing?
There are 13,000 new cases of Covid every day now.

Roosters club should be on the phones today blasting NRL bosses, referees bosses, SCG Trust bosses.
The whole day was possibly a horrible experience for most Roosters fans.
Everything seemed to be set up as if only 27 Roosters fans would be attending the event.
Main carpark closed. Inconvenient for fans.
Most bars and food outlets closed.
Yes, it was as if Roosters (and Knights) fans were a total inconvenience.

The possible victimisation of The Roosters on the field was bad enough, let alone Roosters fans being seemingly treated appallingly off the field as well.

Well the players didn't turn up so why would they expect the fans to?

Those contracted to provide hospitality services trying to keep their staff costs as low as possible, whilst charging exorbitant prices for beer and shit food. Their business model assumes people will queue and purchase regardless. The SCG Trust should be insisting on acceptable levels of staffing and pricing before handing out these contracts. Add that to the fact the ground is the worst game to watch rugby league from in the country. I don't even miss not being able to attend games not living in Sydney nowadays.

Poor old Merivale would lucky to pay for more staff after charging over $12 for a draught beer.

Surely there's some sorta subsidy for ONLY serving VB outta those taps?

That said, I was at a hipster bar the other day. Those bloody grapefruit-flavoured beers (aka 'India Pale Ale') were ~$12 and VBs were $10. Why do they make buying a beer so difficult?

Not that i wanted one but they ran out of pies in the Noble Stand, i heard that when the person in front of me wanted to buy one and was told that by the serving staff . All of the Merivale outlets on the ground level of the Noble were closed but the two SCG badged food places were opened,, the Merival pizza place Vinnies was opened on Level 2 as was the normal SCG food place selling hot dogs, chips etc was opened. The craft bar and Sports Bar were opened on level 2 but two others were closed, no real queues at anytime in the Noble but then again there wasn't a lot of people in that section.

Roosters/Easts Group management, the hirers of the ground, need to fix all this today...if they want fans to keep attending the SCG and the new stadium....which will have the same SCG Trust bosses running it.

                  I did attend the game.
The little lady who sits in the recliner can stay away from the footy no longer. "Might as well be dead"...says she.
It's outdoors, so the Covid risk is decreased.
Rang the SCG, the parking on the grass is $30 and in the Fox Studios/Ent Qtr $25.

Going to the Manly game on Fri night too.
Hopefully there won't be a repeat of the seemingly biased refereeing against us the last time we played Manly.
Was that game the 'circus music and streamers' game?

BYO perhaps -food and non alcoholic beverages - surely folk can go without a beer etc for a few hours though especially the prices they seem to charge.

Bullshit. You have previously claimed to live in a nursing home. You are a pensioner who can't afford things blah blah blah. You are a troll and not a very good one.

Parking is $20 at the school on the other side of Anzac Pde ... much easier to get out after the game as well!

Park near a light rail stop and use the light rail a much cheaper option and quicker to get away from the ground.
