Fark I've hated our time at the SCG. Can't wait to see the back of the place

This is a good move, the light rail has copped plenty of criticism and rightly so but for moving fans away from the moore park area after the footy it has been a godsend.

        We are indeed pensioners.
Pensioners...doesn't mean destitute and on the street.
Pensioners are allowed to have some savings.
We can afford a car...we were much younger when we bought it.
Yes. the elderly car taking the elderly folks to the footy. lol

What about the traffic if coming across the bridge like I do.

They say take the Randwick exit which I did (unlike last year for the Manly game they said take Bondi exit only to realise EP3 was closed but that’s a difference story of incompetence).

As soon as you exit the tunnel you need to make sure you dive across to the left to join the queue that only allows 5 cars at a time to turn into Lang Road at the lights. This is compared to two lanes of traffic heading North turning right into Lang Road (lights are green for nearly 90 seconds) and two lanes coming from the Golf Course.

By the time those from the North get to turn there is no where to go plus that’s when the light rail and buses get the green.

Absolute s show to drive coming that way.

Have complained on March days to Traffic NSW - they can see the issue - but are powerless to change the sequence.

Has anyone else had this issue?

We are not transport snobs, honestly.
Pre covid we would park at Eastgardens carpark in Spring St, rooftop $17 have some food at the club then catch the shuttle to the ground.
Light rail idea sounds good...but is "indoors".
Best "elderly" people (we can still walk, talk, sing and dance) with underlying conditions, diabetes 2 and heart condition, avoid 'indoors".
Kochie now has Covid, after the flood telethon.
I can pay the $30 for parking (hoarded gold coins when times were good)..
            but object to the cost.

                  Why?
Some people do take their own food and drink... especially water.
It's allowed, soft drink and water.. and only in plastic bottles.
                  Sandwiches, biscuits etc.
                  Pensioners and families mostly.
Problem is, you have to carry it all.
Used to be more prevalent in the days of 3 games...old Sports Ground for example.
You spent nearly all day there.
                  Like a picnic.
Imagine filling a picnic basket for the family today at SCG prices!
Life seemed so much simpler back then.

Turning left to park where you mention is an absolute nightmare, those farking trams have made it disgraceful.

When Chippy Frilingos and the Continuous Call Team were riding high, there was major drama over fans taking their own food and drink to games.
"It's affecting the income of food and drink vendors at the grounds".
So they banned it...or some grounds banned it.
The fans doing it were outraged and rang Raaay on the radio complaining.
How many guys have you ever seen going to the footy carrying a cooler bag with water or lemon squash in it?

Fair point. I love the beers, but TBH I can picture a day when (like tobacco), they ban booze (maybe also gambling advertising) from the venue completely.

Again I love a beer and watching in a pub with a few brews (having a bit of a punt on the outcome while you're at it isn't inherently evil). However, if banning them and having a more family friendly environment meant getting 40,000 to every game (rather than 8,000 to each game with all the $$$ coming from Fox & bookies) then IMO it'd be worth it. I'd love to see the comp be more about people going to stadiums + participating rather than having it in in the background at some pub, with randoms only caring about the game when it's gonna impact their multi).

TBH if I wanna get drunk I'm gonna load-up on the turps before the game anyway. For stadium prices I can get a full gastro pub meal + a few pints of craft beer instead of a cr@ppy luke-warm pie, soggy chips and a plastic cup of VB. Sorry 4 plastic cups of watered down VB 'for my friends' that I'm gonna promptly skull in the hope they contain SOME traces of alcohol.

Was just a dig at myself BB in the sense that football much like golf for me is only half the experience without the beer!
