    24 MAN SQUAD v MANLY

A very poor result first up, and a more fancied opposition this week in the Chip Stealers (even though they lost by more than us). With an unchanged line-up, let's hope that we blew some of the cobwebs away last week and we'll see an improved performance on Friday night. We had 2 very lop-sided matches with Manly last year. Let's hope we can deliver a solid, competitive performance this week.

Given the personnel and combination changes that we are introducing, I'll be happy if we are sitting at 4 and 4 after 8 rounds, and then improve over the mid to later portions of the comp.

    GO EASTS !!

I’m thrilled that we can name the same side 2 weeks in a row. Didn’t have that luxury last year.

      Time for redemption.

I’m very surprised that there have been no changes, especially after seeing some of those guys last week. This better work.

What does Nat Butcher have to do to not make our 17? Other than JWH and to an extent Collins, where is our go forward? Manly’s forward pack could eat us alive. Would really have liked to see DSF/Whyte get a run in this game. Momo at the wing? Doesn’t make sense, and in defence, how Robbo switched Manu to the wing also didn’t make any sense. You can’t have our and the games best centre playing on the wing. Also would have liked to see a designated hooker and Watson coming off from the bench. He made too many tackles and was so gassed to be effective at that 9 role. Just some food for thought. Plus side, we have named the same side two weeks in a row, a luxury not afforded to us the past 1/2 seasons. Hoping for a positive result this Friday, but can’t say I’m confident. Trust in Robbo I guess

Looked to me like Manu played wing the whole game not just in defence.

Even worse. To what reason? I understand we want to get him the ball more, but he’s the games best centre for a reason. Feels to me he’s ineffective out on the wing. Trent seemingly did a lot of tinkering in round 1, and I don’t know if I agree with it (probably speaking too soon). Swapping Sitili and Angus? Starting Baker and Collins? Just some decisions that were made that really scrambled the mind and I could only assume he’s tinkering with some things.

Most of our side in round 1 were under done and we had lots of combinations that were very new out wide in Momo and Manu, Smith and Toops as well as Watson, Walker and Keary in our spine whom I think is not a halfback. Also whenever our 1st receiver in attack Radley is missing we tend too struggle in that area. I think we should be much better for the run. Whether that will be enough against Manly we will just have to wait and see.

Would have been amateurish for Robbo to change the side after one loss. Let’s not panic. We went into the game too complacent. It won’t happen this week.

Lammy must be close to jagging a spot in the 17

Careful mate, Nate ' The Grape ' Butcher is a favourite of some on here

He's a favourite of Robbo's I know that, I think Baker is too.
Robbo to me likes players like N Butcher & Baker, there not gonna set the world on fire but he knows he'll get the same every week from them. He made a comment the other day saying that Baker didnt miss 1 session in the pre season so he deserved to start, Robbo sees things in the players that you & I dont & he sees in N Butcher & Baker 2 soldiers who will not let him down on the battle field.

Some giving it to Butch like always. He doesn’t take up much of our cap. You need to have your cheap toilers. Angus on the other hand is on huge money and rarely delivers. I’d be more concerned about his consistent lack of performance than Butcher.

Must have watched it with your eyes closed then. He definitely played inside Mommers in attack

Butcher does the job. He’s a solid defender and has a high work rate.
