  • Bennett's Comments Libellous

The Roosters have led the way in regards to player welfare following incidents involving players being concussed. The short and long term health of our players have always been at the forefront of Robbo's and the Clubs decision making process with match and season outcomes clearly irrelevant when opting to bring players off the field and choosing when the should return to play.

Clearly, Bennett must have some additional evidence at his disposal to be able to question Robbo's and the Roosters integrity in such a manner.
Wayne Bennett has delivered a withering serve to NRL clubs for failing their "duty of care" to concussed pl...

    Libellous?
    Maybe.
Some might say just his opinion, 'free speech'.
Probably not worth taking to court...might lose.

Radley did look concussed, but turned out he wasn't.
Simple solution...take our players straight off the field for assessment by our expert doctors.
Do we get a free replacement for that?
Then bring them back on if they pass the tests.
Should be fun watching Waaayne complaining bitterly next season if the Bunker rules out one of his star players his club passed on the field.

      Deplorable comments by Bennett.
When he was coach of Souffs, wasn't it him that rushed his players back into the first grade lineup, when they had a serious concussion the week before ?
I also can't remember whether it was Bennett that left Inglis on the paddock for the rest of the game, after Inglis suffered the ACL, and was clearly hobbling on one leg.
Is that Bennett's definition of player welfare?

Didn’t Wayney boi leave Josh Hodgson out on the field too long after injuring his knee in the 2017 World Cup which ended up getting worse and being a season ending ACL before the season even started?

Bennett was then asked specifically if he was suggesting NRL clubs are manipulating the concussion rules.

"I'm not suggesting it, I'm telling you," he said.

Technicality maybe, and others will know better but the above statement is indicative of someone who is declaring facts rather than opinions:

I'm really proud of the way Robbo and the Roosters have handled our players health in relation to concussion over the past seasons. The have always gone above and beyond the the NRL's protocols on concussion and put the players first. It's another reason why it is such a great club.

I'm yet to see anything "deplorable" in the way the Roosters handle player concussions, or the Roosters "neglect their duty of care" towards players.

            Bennett is scum........in my opinion.

Radley did take a heavy knock and fell to the ground though one has to say. It was said he had no symptoms or any effects post incident which is a tad hard to believe when you view the incident though.

If say the trainer went out there straight away and took Radley off for a category 2 HIA assessment could the bunker doctor still rule him out of the game? - Roosters would argue we took him off for a category 2 etc.

I can see this being manipulated depending on how quickly they get a player off before the bunker doctor has any footage post incident to make their assessment of a players condition as previously they would stay out there for a period of time and the doctor at the ground would look at footage and make a decision whether to take a player off or not.

Bennett is a hypocrite. If anyone has led the way on the concussion issue it’s Trent and the Roosters. I seem to remember a year or two ago Cameron Murray going off for a free HIA interchange after staying down clutching his knee.

He's a donkey, one moment he's concerned about people who question the integrity of on field medics and now he's not even quesitoning anyones integrity he is just flat out denying it exists.

it's a tough one - even before the independent doctor was brought in for this season, club doctors didn't personally test a player and based their assessments on observations from the stand.
i'm no doctor but rads obviously felt pain in the neck and that would be more immediately concerning than a head knock. not surprising he went limp.
can't say i saw him staggering or whatever once he got up.

That is my memory of him as a coach. I lost count of the number of times Souffs players would go off for a HIA and then return to the field. Or they would be ruled out of the game but miraculously recover in time to play the following week. He's only worried about player safety if it doesn't get in the way of him winning football games
