Official Match Day Thread: Roosters v Sea Eagles

Last week we had all sorts of excuses for that performance. We were underdone, Billy Smith can’t tackle, Manu is out of position, Teddy should have caught that and of course the ref.

The most obvious reason we lost was that our forwards were piss weak and got smashed. It’s a simple formula, you win the forward battle and the ruck, you win the game.

It’s time for our pack to aim up. We have many internationals and forward leaders, there is no excuse not to win the forward battle. Let’s smash their pack tonight and get our season back on track. We don’t want to go into Round 3 as back-to-back losers.

ps. Sadly I won’t be attending tonight. Got COVID as do my three kids. I just hope Braith, Gordon, Blocker, Mick or Benji aren’t commentating.

If it helps, I had to listen to 1/2 the previous game while travelling from Temora to Wagga Wagga. The reception was rusty and it was just a bunch of locals trash talking Easts (quite openly) and arguing that any penalties / possession we got MUST be invalid. I felt like shouting at the radio as I knew we were down but they weren't even calling the game. It'd be like 'OH YES GAGAI... WOOHOOO GO KNIGHTS!!!! Did he drop it? No way... and if he did it went backwards [blah blah blah blah blah about the call] 'THAT WAS THE PERFECT DEFENSIVE SET!!!! [I heard nothing about what actually happened] Knights [who were previously peppering our line] will take it 20m before half way'.

I'm happy for commentators to say it how it is (i.e. we s*cked and there's no sugar coating it). But these guys didn't even call our sets, they just rambled about how they didn't think we deserved possession before calling the Knights' defence 'perfect' when we'd marched ~60m up the field.

don't know how we'll go tonight. if we can turn it around and get a win it'd be good.

Not totally convinced with how we set up with our new left and right side combinations but that's how they would have prepared during the off season and Robbo wants them to go that way.
Need better ball control and discipline if we are to beat manly and keep turbo in check.

Nervous today. Been a while since we’ve aimed up against the “ bigger “ sides so keen to see how we respond after last weeks dismal performance.

The whole pack needs to play how we know they can play!! The pack isn’t old, the pack isn’t overrated we just need to pull our heads out!
