Not great stats which is something of a Roosters problem across all grades including junior rep and pathway sides.- they cannot complete sets at a high % and then the missed tackles / handling errors/penalties and set restarts conceded mount as fatigue and frustration sets in from the more defence they need to do.
48% possession and 56 % set completions (9/16) - 7 handling errors / 15 missed tackles and 5 penalties conceded
I see we scored a pretty good try to level up ...only to have the video review come back and say no no ...inside shoulders, outside shoulders yadda yadda yadda ...took away the opportunity of a defender who was never going to make the tackle. They're a great chance to cause an upset & win this ...if they hold onto the ball !
Useless, just like the men’s team last night. 55 seconds left on the clock after that second try to make it 16-10, then instead of just waving away the kick for goal from the far right touchline (it had no chance) they take the shot for goal and waste down 50 seconds.
Late Roosters try Isabelle Kelly conversion missed
Full Time
Dragons 16 defeated Sydney Roosters 10
Improved second half after a poor start in the second half in conceding back to back tries in quick succession to be down 12-0
Just couldn't convert the improvement in ball control and set completions into points
Second half set completions -14/19 - 74% - 5 Handling errors - 8 missed tackles - 0 penalties conceded
1st half set completions - 9/16 - 56% - 7 handling errors / 15 missed tackles and 5 penalties conceded
Again high set completions is the key it cannot be underestimated the importance of this on all areas of a teams game- high set completions usually results in less errors/missed tackles/penalties and set restarts conceded as obviously you don't have to do extra's in defence which results in increased fatigue , frustration , poor execution and discipline as all would have seen last night as an example of this.
A wait and see now- I expect the Titans to win - Bronco's will need to beat Parramatta by at least 16 for the Roosters to qualify for the Finals
hard to make the semis from here. won't happen if parra lose by less than 16 and the titans lose by less than 10. still, the broncos are more than capable of putting a big score on the eels and might go for for the minor premiership if they get an early lead so we've still got a realistic chance.
for the third week running we've left points on the paddock. we could easily have won today. if we do make it through to the semis we won't be there just to make up the numbers.
togatuki and southwell were outstanding and some other good performances besides.
