im pretty sure that whilst the players may not be reading the press, im sure they are aware of the talk.

so if that dont fire em up, not sure what will.

i remember a story from freddys auto , where there was a lot of negative talk about the roosters in early 02, along the lines of a ferrari with a busted engine. freddy kept the article and pinned it as motivation for the rest of that season. worked pretty well.

As I’ve said all along. The quality of the players we have lost have been replaced by players with not half their talent and abilities. You can’t get golden performances from leaden quality players. For starters we don’t have a good goal kicker which alone jeopardises close games. Then our forwards have no mojo. Morris twins scored most of our tries. Who replaces them? Friend and Aubs are gone. JWH is aging. We need to learn to pass, catch, kick and tackle. We need to rebuild a couple of years to be a threat again. ATM we are easybeats.

Was going to say he same thing.

Let's be realistic about this. We've been notorious last few seasons for coming out of the blocks as slow starters i.e. 2018, 2019, 2020 except for last year when we came out firing until we met Souffs early and self-destructed. We've got the talent but we need the chemistry, combination, confidence and time. We don't even know if our back five will stay the same with the likes of Joseph Suaalii imminent to get a crack somewhere at some point. We've got no genuine hooker at the moment and this effects our line speed in both attack and defence. We've got a battle hardened pack albeit a slightly ageing one at that. We've had players return from injuries, Covid-19 related issues and we've probably had arguably the most disruptive and lethargic pre-season in years and it's evident by our match fitness and clunkiness in play thus far.

It's still early days but if we click, we can take on anyone on our best day. We basically punched above our weight and got into the finals last year with 70% of the North Sydney Bears squad. The expectations are high as fark on us, and so is the scrutiny by many because whether fans or pundits love us or hate us, they simply can't ignore us. We're a successful club that breeds excellence and we demand success at all times.

Robbo is a mad scientist on most days, right now he is "tinkering" with something ... whether it's to experiment or to try and implement some new tactic ... we just gotta have faith in him. Remember after the 2018 grand final match, Andrew Johns came out and said that for the first half of the season, the Roosters looked off, like they were playing strange and he made comments about not using Latrell enough and how that was Robbo's timed plan to hold him back ... well he admitted that he was wrong and Robbo got it right and executed his plan to perfect timing when it mattered the most. Everything will happen in due time and if it doesn't by some chance and we have an absolute shocker of a season, then every true Roosters fan knows that the club, Robbo and Nick Politis will not sit quietly and wait for some bullshit "rebuild" or some other crap like a "five year plan" like other clubs do and have done so. It's a cut-throat game and we're a success driven club, heads will be put on the chopping block and people will pushed out to make way for competitive sons of bitches to win comps.

They need Gaz to send them a 3am voicemail about sauce bottles. That'll fire 'em up

I'd be happy if Robbo's old 'I want them to play footy, not go into their shells' was resulting in us playing some ambitious, adventurous, attacking footy.
You must have missed the first 20 minutes last week where we tried to score off almost every half break.

Aside from the old 'sack eeeem' or 'send em to the Bears for some park foodeee', what's needed to make these guys fire?

However, we're not even doing that! Around about the 70 minute mark against Souffs I saw 1 or 2 enterprising runs but other than that, it was like we were trying to minimise our losses rather than win the game.

What's happened to our big guns? How do we get better from here?!? If you're on $1m a season (or close) to play awesome footy and you're not playing awesome footy then you're like my mirror guy who doesn't actually make mirrors (we've been waiting 3 months for a laser-cut mirror and they still can't give us a solid progress update). Somebody needs to call these guys up and pester them until they take their finger out and play some proper footy!
                            To win, we need:
                            - excellent defence
                            - our middles going forward

We had neither of these last week.
Like Robbo says ' we didnt earn the right to go wide'.

Hahaha you're right Headless they wouldn't cop it now though there was a time when that was the standard a sign on and match payments.

My father played bush footy and had one of his old contracts that he signed in the early 70's. He got $700 sign on fee which was probably 2 weeks wages back then plus $30 win, $15 draw and $10 a loss
