Being the best player in the game IMO my expectation tonight of him would be for him to ice the game but he didn’t pull it off. Very disappointing but I’m happy for the Sharks & Im happy for Nicho Hynes who is a consistent 8 or 9 out 10 player. I would love to see him at the Roosters.
Why do you think he's the best player in the game, Mickie?
I think he's capable of having the most influence on any given game, but goes missing way, way too often for me. You never see games this quiet from the absolute best in the league.

    • I agree about the influence comment above. Surprised he does not go looking for the ball more from the backfield and try and break tackles like Toups and Bondi Joe. Maybe it’s coaches orders but you just think as a player you would want to touch the ball more in those situations.

Because he's freak. His size, his chip on his shoulder attitude, his aggression & his x factor is why people go to watch Rugby League.
He's a game breaker & every team in the comp including the Chooks would love him in their side.

I think Teddy's a better fullback than 'Trellz. 'Trell was playing left centre for most of then game then slotted in at #1 for the last 20 in order to 'ice' the game against a Sharks team that was missing a FB due to an injury around about that time.

Good to see teams above us losing. Would love to see us finish 6th or higher and get a home final. Not that anybody aims to come 6th... but IMO it's arguably better than coming 4th because 4th has to play an away game against the Riff (and then possibly play them again).

The week off is a massive boost when you finish 1-4 but IMO the old system provided 1-4 with more of an advantage. Yes the Dragons were minor premiers in 2009 and then choked in their game against Parra (who had a sweet run), before being bundled out by Brisbane at Suncorp. The new season doesn't magically prevent teams from choking...

I get all of that, and don't disagree with any of it, but it doesn't answer the question.
None of that makes him the best player in the comp. which requires consistency.

Big Ears Demetriou spent most of the presser whinging the only reason they lost was the unfair policing of the ruck, and that he'd be "having a chat through the week", presumably to the NRL and ref bosses to demand more handouts.

I can understand his outrage, given that Sutton usually blatantly cheats to gift them points and games. Clearly Souffs were not given enough welfare handouts and I agree with him Sutton needs to try harder to get them over the line.

              • Sure he can be a game breaker, but in my opinion Mitchell doesn’t have the work ethic to be the best player in the world. He loves the glamour plays that make him look good but won’t do the hard work (like taking hit ups) for thé team.

Compare his work load to Tedesco, Turbo etc and he doesn’t come close. If he put in as much effort in the game as he does looking for the camera he might be up there.

He’s a good headline and the media cream their pants about him but I think he’s way overhyped

                  It's not even close.

                  But love is blind.

                  • Anyone else think souffs last try last night was a double movement?
Or am I on my pat malone?

How was it possibly anything but? And their coach thinks they were cheated by the refs, LOL.

I think initially the ball touched the line, so no double movement, although if the ref didn’t award it, it may have been hard to overturn it in the bunker.

                              • I thought he made a definite second movement as initially he was short of the chalk- it wasn't in my view momentum as such that the ball ended up in the in goal area - NO TRY
