Plays in 4.
Surely we're not going to leave Momo at 3 and expect him to take on Pompey and Montoya...with Walker.
Radley made 42 tackles, but he should replace Momo to stop Pompey.
Radley could run hard thru the centres and score tries.
Replace him with at lock a bigger forward.
You have players that play certain positions for a reason and there certainly would never be a situation you would put Radley into another position other than lock or maybe hooker if stocks for that position are exhausted but never ever at centre.

When is Robbo going to bring Suali back into first grade?
There is a left centre or right wing spot ready for him to call his own.We need a threat down the left edge besides Sitili
With all these massive wraps on him surely he must be progressing towards a starting spot soon.Last edited by Bondicigar; 04-12-2022, 08:33 AM.

Great to the warhorse JWH doing what he does best (esp in the absence of SST)… Angus was finding his mojo again… young Baker repaid the faith in him with a lot good grunt work…
Teddy & Keary not even close to their peak, & Rads not quite finding his running game… but still a gritty win… can’t wait until the spine gets things really humming…

I was hoping Robbo was holding him back and he would be ripe to come back all guns blazing , but that doesn't sound too promising...

How's his defence? I reckon that's the biggest step-up when you go to first grade.

Must say, when we were getting the lift down to the bus stops to head home , one elderly old love in a Wally Lewis jersey looked at me and “humpfed” or however you spell that noise…and then said go back to bondi….hope she lives in my street , so I can wave when I see her

his good mate Penisini is doing really well at parra, especially defensively, so I can only assume Joseph must be even more capable since there was barely any talk of Penisini in comparison.

Second half stats show the Roosters had control of the game and an overlooked stat is the play the ball speed which of course needs to go hand in hand with high set completions - Roosters average play the ball speed second half was 3.09 seconds vs Broncos 4.08 seconds - there is a definite correlation between how quickly teams play the ball and on other stats in the game - such as running metres and PCM/ Line breaks / missed tackles/errors/various penalties and set restarts conceded etc
Some second half stats
Average play the ball speed
2) Broncos 4.08 seconds - Roosters 3.09 Seconds vs 1st Half Broncos 3.3 seconds and Roosters 3.37 seconds
Set Completions
2) Broncos 75 % (12/16) - Roosters 73% (14/19) vs 1st HalfBroncos 87$ (21/24) - Roosters 84% ( 16/19)
Running metres
2) Broncos 690 ( PCM 211 ) - Roosters 910 (PCM 250 )\ vs 1st Half Broncos 953 ( PC 336 ) - Roosters 794 ( PC 289)
Line Breaks
2) Broncos 0 - Roosters 4 vs 1st Half Broncos 4 -Roosters 1
Tackles
2) Broncos 174 ( 26 missed ) - Roosters 130 ( 12 missed ) vs 1st Half Broncos 149 ( 5 missed ) - Roosters 215 ( 22 missed )
There wasn't a lot of difference in the number of sets and set completions in the second half and the Roosters i feel left points out there as well - incomplete sets in the Bronco's 20 or where the attacked fizzled out somewhat.
I know the modern way is to get a repeat set and bring fatigue and attrition into the equation for the defensive team but with line drop out you are then bringing the ball back again to the same area - why not try the old 1970'w Johnny Peard bomb? - The fullback defends in the line and those defending near the posts are the forwards.
I know the 7 tackle set rule is flawed and coaches are paranoid about conceding them but the Roosters have several good leapers in the team so it is worthwhile trying in my view since defences are at their best when defending in their own 20 nowadays especially with 13 in the defence line
I used to play footy like yourself, I am not so much into the analytics and stats but we were off our game especially in the first half on Friday night. The only good thing early in the game was our completions which we were going set for set with the Broncos but they were winning the arm wrestle and territory battle (first half) and they are hardly top 8 material let alone top 4 material.
Our second half was a lot better but I still felt we were pretty clunky and looked a bit lost at times in attack. Manu pretty much pulled a rabbit out of his out a couple of times and Walkers off the cuff kick for our last try pretty much covered over a lot of the clunkiness and at times a bit lost. To me Teddy is overplaying his hand atm especially when we go into the oppositions red zone. Don't know if that is because Keary is still regaining his confidence after an ACL last year.
We had players out but they did as well.....
But I am ok with it as hopefully we win about 50 to 60 percent of our games early on and then build into the season......Last edited by 4 the all in brawl; 04-10-2022, 01:20 PM.Originally posted by Bondi Boy
