we seem to turn up so often with this blase attitude , were we concede leads, metres, miss tackles against teams on paper who are massively inferior to us .

do other top teams do it as often as us ? melbourne ....rarely, penrith ...not in the last 2 years, parra ...generally flog weaker teams , souffs ...can lose big against good teams , i guess they lost to brisba in rnd 1 .

am i being to harsh or is it reality ? we just seem so farking casual sometimes its infuriating and at times unwatchable .
I think we'll need a night's sleep to assess that game.

Brisbane in Brisbane has almost always been a titanic battle for us. So there's that to factor in.

Look at the trash they served up vs Cowboys and Warriors but then like clockwork they saved their best performance of the season for us at home.

From our perspective there were enough pockets of excellence to be optimistic. The forwards showed promise... JWH has life in him, Angus back to his best, Baker showing plenty...

Sam Walker just shows a frightening amount of poise for a 19yr old.

And our two most important players in Ted and Kez didn't do much.

Brick by brick there's signs we're building. Just need to put it all together. And maybe Suaalii is the last cog if he blitzes it.

I can't see us winning the comp but stranger things have happened. Assuming Penrith don't go b2b then we're amongst the next rung.

We just need to teach him how to make effective tackles.
Why because he's such a weapon in attack......

On another note, how good to see Crichton run into some form

                        • If Suaalii plays a good game this weekend he's straight in my book for Kev. Kev lacks any aggression running the ball out from our line and so soft in defence. Cory Oates is a slow second rower and made him look pedestrian running around him and leaping in the air.

I would play Suaalii in the centres with Momo one last chance on the wing and he kicked that goal beautifully..Or Robbo bites the bullet and Billy Smith comes back in.

Crighton showed some good form so he's back in for Nat who will miss the game due to a crusher charge and concussion.

Verrills back and Watson at 14.

Teddy’s body language for a captain after Manu scored “Atkins no try” was really poor. No elation at all, looked from afar with his hands on his head.

                              • One thing people don't seem to appreciate is that it doesn't matter if you're the best team in the comp and you're playing against the wooden spooners - the game isn't played on the ladder. You have to assess a teams performance in the context of how well the opposite team played, not just where they are on the ladder. I don't think the Broncos will make the 8, but they played well tonight. Ranting and raving about how we should put 50 on them is irrational when they come out, compete for 80 minutes and play a good game.

I was at the game and it was a very bizarre one. I thought our middles were pretty good throughout, and the only trouble the Broncos seemed to cause us was when they spread the ball.

The game was basically single-handedly won by Joseph Manu. It's extraordinary how freakishly talented this guy is. Enough said.

Outside of that, I thought Crichton, Baker and Tupou all played well. I said it recently, but Tupou is so clearly the best winger in the world. Everything he does is class and quality, and he's so consistent that it almost goes unnoticed.

This also isn't reactionary but man Tupouniua worries me. He badly needs to clean up his defense and his hands, because he just makes too many errors on both fronts. It's a pity because he could be such a weapon.

Overall, a tough performance but not a good one. I have no doubt whatsoever that we'll continue to build throughout the season, and getting the 2-points in games like this is really valuable.
