Think you’re putting way too much weight on the opening 5 rounds of the season. Last year for points scored it went;

Melbourne 33.9pts per game
Souths 32.2pts per game
Manly 31pts per game
Penrith 28.1pts per game
Roosters 26.2pts per game
Titans 24.1pts per game
Parramatta 23.6pts per game

I think it’s a pretty fair question to ask why you think Parramatta are going to be a 10pt better side this year?

Can't agree mate. Penrith have only had Cleary back for 2 weeks now and they've looked just as good as ever. You only need to pay attention to how many tries they have disallowed to see just how good they've been. A few 50/50s go their way and they're putting 40 on the teams they've played, and all without Cleary.

Yeh I agree, I think they limped through the finals series last year with a very compromised Cleary winning the comp on the back of their defence but it’s clear their attack is starting to hum again with Cleary back at 100%.

Exactly. Plus Parras draw has been relatively soft, aside from Melbourne, they've played bad teams and barely beaten some of them.

The Panthers are the best team in the comp if they stay fit but on their day Parra can beat Penrith & so can the Chooks.

Yes thats right over the first 5 rds.
They have scored more points at this stage then Penrith & Penrith were without Cleary but Penrith will end up with the post points scored & least points conceived this year.
Now back to Parra are better than Souths this year.

Until king got sin binned for the most trivial infringement...his arm was being locked by the souths player, souths weren't in it. Sutton's red and green eyes were unreal...

As much as I hate Souths they were good value for their grand final appearance last year and I don't think Adam Reynolds was as good or as important as many made him out to be.

Souths like us will take a little while to get going with new combos and a new coach but I expect when it comes down to it at the business end of the season they will be a bigger force than Parramatta who have never been past the 2nd week of the finals under Brad Arthur.

Even we made it to the 2nd week of the finals last year, finished higher on the ladder than the Eels and scored more points than them. And we were running on gas fumes.

What is it about the Eels that has you convinced? I think Dylan Brown is playing at a higher level this year but that isn't enough for me to say they're all of a sudden a stronger side than Souths who made the Grand Final last year.

That was last year R6 & Souths were a top team but this year I just think Parra are better than them.
Im not saying Parra are the be all & end all Im just saying I think Parra are better than Souths this year but Souths are still a top 8 side.
On any given day Souths or Parra can beat the Roosters, Storm, Manly, Cronulla so neither team are not good sides.
I cant see any of them getting over Penrith if all are fully fit.
