Cant remember what year it was I think it was 4 years ago the Warriors played like the best team in the NRL & gave it to the Chooks.

of course - we haven't hit our straps yet. but if we turn up we'll win.

Matty it's not the word itself but the way in which it is used is in a derogatory manner. You and your mates don't call each other Homo when your trying to pay a compliment do you - it's always used in that manner to infer your mate at that time is being soft or less than whatever you think a man should be. It may be said jokingly with no harm intended amongst yourselves or no harm intended even to the wider gay community however using the terms always as a means of describing each other negatively perpetuates the very ignorant and old school way of thinking that these minorities are less than because of what they are.

If we in society continue to speak like this ( even if just amongst our mates) how do our children and their children ever really get rid of the inherited bias we as tough aussie males have inherited from largely ignorant( on this topic) older generations.

If we keep using homo and the like terms as a sledge on our mates then younger generations keeps thinking less of these groups than they otherwise would.

I am in that same boat of using the terms this way or definitely was - I'm trying to rid myself of that habit though.

I do agree on your point about the outrage and choice of taking offence and taking offence on behalf of etc these days - people seem to want to be on the outrage train but I don't think it's apt in respect to this point.

Back onto the footy - looking forward to the match and seeing the old teams trot around for a lap. The winning white also. How long since we have worn an all white strip - feels like a long time.

I think a number on here are living in a previous century where such words and sayings may have been used although by rather ignorant people one has to say

It's not woke either when calling folk out on this which is a common reply used to somehow justify posts and rather Jurassic park thoughts and views on particular subject matter.

It's 2022 do people really call each other such things nowadays and especially in workplaces as has been mentioned on here.

there's a great photo of the 2002 team today on the roosters instagram site. i think they got together at the scg for lunch yesterday.
i think it's only fitzy missing from the 17 and there's other members of the squad as well.
nice to see ricky stuart made the trip up. it was a golden era for the club and he's got to take a lot of the credit.
